Bournemouth FA Cup (a) Post Match Thread
Dan replied to urban.spaceman's topic in Leicester City Forum
That is an absolutely excellent win. The best of the season. -
The general attitude we have to this game is a symptom of the absolute disgrace that this round has been moved to midweek - a move entirely designed to benefit the top clubs. Each thing they achieve needs to be caveated by how much the authorities have allowed them to pretty much rig the system.
-
This is a club that has truly rested on its laurels at so many levels. Beating a load of teams that we have 8 times the budget of won't fool me that it now has its act together.
-
If our club pushed for three stands standing (I'd say Leicester winning a World Cup is probably likelier) I don't think we'd get even close to having it happen. We just simply don't have that sort of fanbase and I think that's been very deliberately forced over time.
-
Leeds & Millwall particularly as clubs have a bit of a different attitude in this department. Millwall are even more peculiar really as for the most part they don't really turn up at all, but when they do, they really, really do. Liverpool are sort of the same actually. I'm in the tricky position with us where I think a lack of pride and lack of bigging ourselves up is a damaging self-fulfilling prophecy, but also thinking that particularly as regards to the actual atmosphere itself what really can you actually cling onto. You can't fix this sort of mentality overnight. It takes years.
-
Lack of squad depth plus the disgrace of the fact the FA Cup 5th round is now midweek meant this was always likely to be the case. Not gonna be pretty viewing I fear.
-
Another part of what I keep mentioning - the psyche at this club is all wrong. Fans, players etc... everyone expects, and in turn gets the worst.
-
The two grounds are chalk and cheese. Leeds have always had good support and we're not really likely to ever hit that level but the contrast is a bit embarrassing to be honest. I can't remember the last time I saw our ground even close to that.
-
This place has gotten particularly ridiculous in the last few years in this regard.
-
Yep. Never seen that in England before with the exception of probably Millwall. It wasn't great throughout the game but bloody hell it got good.
-
Problem is it's a genuinely bad situation of a game for us. They have less reason to rest than us. I'll be seriously impressed if our make shift XI doesn't crash out here. They're a tidy team Bournemouth. Full of energy and pace. Really enjoy watching them.

Tuesday could be a very long night. I don't think we match up well against this at all.
-
I'm not sure barely touching the ball in 10 minutes is really a great defence.
-
I'm still in the camp of thinking we win the league but it's so tight. It's an unprecedented top four and no historical data matters this season - you've got four sides posting tallies that would win the league most years. You could get 96 points and come 3rd. I think we're too good for 75% of this division on most days and that's why I back us to see it through. But I tell you what if we don't beat QPR I will seriously panic. That sort of game has been the bread and butter, the foundation to our league position, if we stop winning those games routinely we are right in the shit.

I didn't rate his subs tonight but there isn't actually a great deal of choice. Our depth isn't quite as great as I imagine it to be. Still should be good enough to get over the line but we will need a fair bit more work over the summer which I'm not sure the club will be able to support. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
-
True true. In the context of the season though that wasn't a crucial game. We win that tonight we are basically champions. Now we've given those twats the shot in the arm they needed - on a genuinely crap showing by them too. I'm absolutely livid.
-
People sneer when they read Albrighton's name but I'm 100% having him on the pitch over McAteer even at this age.
-
The very existence of this thread is sort of the proof of it. It's habitual. It's expected. The fans, the players, we all know it's coming. I'm trying to avoid the Spurs tropes but it's becoming increasingly difficult. There is something psychologically wrong at this club. It's been the case a good 3 years now. I do think how long we tolerated him for has had an impact. It set a really bad standard. This side for me is just simply much more talented than pretty much all of the league. When we're challenged though, the red flags appear. The manner of that collapse tonight was an absolute embarrassment and a disgrace.
-
Obviously Nunez is better, in a better side at a higher level. It's a similar situation though.
-
His subs weren't great but the problem is I don't see what the obvious moves are. I don't think our depth is quite as great as we imagine while our XI is obviously excellent. There aren't great like for like options without a substantial drop off. I'm finding it hard to go mad at him over this - that second half is truly up there with the most bizarre I've watched. One of the best halves of the season and we've come out of it ****ing losing 3-0!
-
We have an embarrassment of riches in some areas, but you can't deny that we're weak in others. Our winger options are increasingly looking a problem. We'd have a real issue if we lost Mavididi or Fatawu to a bad injury. Midfield as well - we lack options to properly rotate. We're putting a lot of mileage in the likes of Winks and KDH because we can't not.
-
Every ****ing week. They're just so awful.
-
The situation with Daka is not dissimilar to Darwin Nunez at Liverpool. I think he's a net positive on the whole but he can have some moments where you can't excuse him.
-
Honestly I've defended him but what the ****. How?!?!?! Saying this though - interesting he went off at 0-1.
-
That's up there with the biggest three points dropped I've ever witnessed. They weren't even any good. We've not only let them off the hook but we've then imploded AGAIN. There is something fundamentally wrong psychologically at this club.
