I think you’re probably about right. Which is why I’ve cashed out on my £50 automatic promotion bet. To be clear, I did that this morning. But for the reason you outline above. Our problem isn’t (just) our squad’s ability. It’s the fact that it’s a seriously miserable, wantaway camp. I feel for Cifuentes. He has a very difficult job on his hands. 2-1 Preston tomorrow I reckon.

Why on earth would a release clause expiring mean we’d accept less? It puts the ball back in our court. And we don’t need less money for assets. We need more.

Time will obviously tell, but this has the feel of a significantly weaker Championship than it was a couple of seasons ago. Listening to 5Live and this baffling overlooking of Leicester was clear there too. Charlie Adam talking nonsense about managerial styles but beyond that and the loss of Vardy, not a lot was said. Owynn PA just mentioned a bloated squad and that was about it.

What people on here don’t seem to get is that every club of a certain size has this issue.

I don’t think we’ll piss the league, but I’m confident we’ll be in the play-offs even if we get as much as a 9-point deduction. We have plenty of talent albeit with a striker-shaped problem. We’ll be fine.

Just stuck £50 on us to go up. I only ever bet when I’m very confident and almost always win. Silly odds for us. Lazy odds. Long may the underestimation continue.
