Is anyone a recruitment consultant?

Basically I'm attempting to change my career from retail to recruitment and hoped someone in this field may have a bit of advice.

I have had two interviews so far and both unsuccessful. The last interview (today) I was told I lacked drive and ambition, so I got out of there gave it an hour and rang the company up and told them what a mistake they made. Then walked straight into a direct competitor and demanded an interview, which worked and have one next week.

So any advice to make sure this one gets nailed would be helpful

Thanks guys

I went for a few recruitment jobs a couple of years ago and some advice I was given was really emphasise & stress how much money means to you (even if it's not one of your top priorities). Relentlessness and ruthlessness were also a couple of other things advised to demonstrate.

Been in it since I finished Uni, my company is a bit different though KPI's are relaxed and it's much less high pressure than Law, Finance, telecoms etc. If there was one thing I'd stress over the usual 'passion' 'drive' 'enthusiasm' clichés, is your independence and self motivation. It can be a lonely lonely job sat at a quiet desk when everyone around you is billing a lot of money, you need to be able to drive it yourself and not rely on anyone else to do it for you because they won't.

What sector does the company you're interviewing with recruit into?

I'm an IT  contractor so I have to work with them all the time.

Act like a greedy c**t who would pimp out his own mother for decent pay day and a promotion, with a degree with honors in utter bullshitting. Job will be yours.

To translate for you,  to say you lack drive and ambition basically translates as they think you aren't willing to pester, harass, backstab, and annoy people whilst working yourself into the ground for the sole purposs of making the company money.

In all seriousness it is a pretty depolrable job to have in my opinion, far too dishonest and back stabby for my likeing. That's before you even go into the targets, stress, and the fact most of them work 10 hour days most days. I must admit the money can be very good if you are good at it though, and while I'd trust most of them about as far as I can throw them (the one who got me this position being near the top of that list) there are a couple I view as geniune and still manage to actually be quite good at their job.
