wattolcfc Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Apologies if there is already a thread on this but today West Ham are the first club to announce that due to the increase in Premier League TV money next season, they have reduced the cheapest adult season tickets from £620 to £289. I'm sure we all welcome this news and I wanted to gauge our fans opinions on the matter of pricing. Do you believe our owners should follow West Ham's lead and change our pricing structure for this coming season - should we stay up? Will our owners cut prices the following season (16/17) if we are still in the Prem, if so, to what? Any other thoughts?
Dan Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Was very glad to read that especially from a club who are notorious for their prices. Good PR for them as well. Our season tickets are relatively reasonable. Match day prices less so.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 What proportion of tickets will be available at that price for the hammers, and what's the step up to the next cheapest ST? If the answer to those questions are favourable then well done West Ham. We're competitively priced with ST imo.
RobHawk Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Im sure that has nothing to do with moving to a new stadium soon that they will struggle to fill!
1993fox Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Im sure that has nothing to do with moving to a new stadium soon that they will struggle to fill! Sense finally prevails. Good old West Ham, using their history in the 60s to try and justify ludicrous prices in the first place.
C-man Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Good for the home fans but I won't be praising the club too much until they announce fair pricing for away fans too.
AKCJ Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 It wouldn't have happened if they were staying at Upton Park next season but fair play all the same.
Gerard Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Im sure that has nothing to do with moving to a new stadium soon that they will struggle to fill! Exactly my thoughts when I read it.
Bilo Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 I think West Ham's plan has always been a 'pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap, philosophy for their move to the Olympic Stadium. I still expect there'll be empty seats, Manchester City's season tickets are among the cheapest in the league and they still have empty seats for many games. If a CL side and reigning champions can't fill a 48,000 capacity stadium, what chance do a midtable side surrounded by bigger clubs stand of filling a 54,000 capacity stadium?
darko2k7 Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 West ham are actually raising ticket prices by a max of 5% next season . Its not to the following season they plan to reduce them .
Voll Blau Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Bring them down to prices comparable with those on large swathes of the continent, then we'll talk.
Monsell1976 Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 I don't think our season tickets are unreasonable to be fair, we are not the cheapest, but still good
iancognito Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 Bring them down to prices comparable with those on large swathes of the continent, then we'll talk. This. With the current TV deal every single club in the league could afford to let fans in for free next season with no significant financial impact. Our ST prices are reasonable compared to some in the league but fans in Germany laugh at how the English are consistently ripped off with barely a whimper about it. Under 12s for a quid should be compulsary too, need to do far more to keep the game accessible to kids and the lower paid.
Guest ttfn Posted 22 April 2015 Posted 22 April 2015 They can offer cheap season tickets because Newham council is only charging then £2.5m a year rent for a world class sports stadium in the middle of a massive regeneration project. We're paying for this.
kingcarr21 Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 http://m.bbc.com/news/uk-england-humber-32431976 Disgraceful from Hull. Who on earth would pay that to go to that dross of a place on a tuesday night
Lestoh Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 One step forward, two steps back. It's not even like Hull will be struggling for money when they have to sell half their team post-relegation.
