DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 A horrible result, and we were overwhelmed by a great Bath side. Bath, along with Saracens have broken the wage cap, which is well known in rugby circles. Other clubs like Wasps, Bristol, and many others now have multi millionaires owning the clubs, and pouring big money into them. We, at Leicester are a self owned, PLC, so we cannot match the big money clubs, who's owners absorb any losses. That is a key factor in the progression of our club, here at Welford Road.

It's all out in the open now, and the two cheating clubs are in the Premiership Final. It makes me sick that this has happened. Something has to be done, and fast.
davieG Posted 27 May 2015 Author Posted 27 May 2015 Salary cap mess does Aviva Premiership no favours - Martin Crowson's Inside Rugby By Mercury_Sport | Posted: May 27, 2015 Mark McCafferty, chief executive of Premiership Rugby Comments (0)Salary cap. What salary cap? It is difficult to see how the Aviva Premiership can maintain one next season after the unedifying saga played out at the end of this term. Unless Premiership Rugby come out this week and announce their findings into the salary cap investigation they 'allegedly' (because they can't talk about it) launched last year, the integrity of that cap is under huge pressure. A bit of background, if you are not aware of the situation. Just before last Christmas, the Daily Mail reported that Saracens and Bath were being investigated for alleged breaches of the salary cap. That figure, currently at £5m, is agreed upon by the clubs to create financial stability and a level playing field for its clubs and under it, the Aviva Premiership has become a fantastic product. Penalties for breaching that agreement include a set of recommended sanctions. Clubs found guilty of exceeding it by £75,000 face a four-point deduction, but that figures rises to a maximum of 40 points for a breach of more than £250,000. There are possible fines of £3 for every £1 over the cap, rising to £10 per £1 for a third offence. Findings of the alleged investigation never emerged and then, in April, the Times reported that those investigations had been apparently suspended after a vote by the 12 clubs to protect the league's image and avoid alienating supporters and sponsors. Funnily enough, it seems to have done the opposite. Supporters have demanded some clarity but, as yet, nothing has emerged. And there are some suggestions that the league could take up to five years to punish any club found guilty of a breach. That has led to distrust and frustration amongst the supporters who pay to watch the Premiership during its 22-round season. The fact that the two clubs allegedly at the centre of the investigation will play out the league's showpiece occasion at Twickenham on Saturday only adds fuel to the fire. So, if nothing comes out before the summer recess, where does that leave the league and its clubs, which, to a large degree, self-police themselves? Closer to home, if you are Leicester Tigers, what do you plan for next season? Do you recruit according to next season's cap figure of £5.5m, which excludes up to two marquee signings, to stick to the original agreement? Or, if you can afford it, do you start thinking: 'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em' and plan to spend over the limit? If Saracens or Bath have done that this season, it won't have stopped one of them winning a title. The trouble is, Leicester need to make those decisions now because financial planning will be at the very heart of their approach to the 2015/16 campaign. If the old adage of 'no smoke without fire' is true in this case, then certain clubs have broken league rules, set by the clubs themselves, and seemingly got away with it. Against that background, if Leicester are going to bust the cap, they need to find or earn that extra money from somewhere so they can do so. If they are not, they will have to live with the consequences of other clubs potentially doing it and getting away with it. Irrespective of what clubs decide to do here, there is also the danger of damage to the credibility of the tournament. There is so much right with the Premiership which this year, has produced some wonderful rugby and storylines. But if clubs are allowed to get away with breaches of the rules and nothing is done about it, the credibility and integrity of the league will take a massive hit among its supporters with claim, counter-claim and insinuation already rife on fans' forums. It's all becoming a bit of a mess and the Premiership - fronted by CEO Mark McCafferty – has three choices. Turn a blind eye to breaches? Take on any rule-breakers in court if necessary? Or just ditch the cap altogether and risk the gap between the haves and the have-nots getting out of hand? C-man Posted 28 May 2015 Posted 28 May 2015 Might just be because Tigers are struggling (in relative terms) but I cant bear the sport at the moment. Ridiculously unlevel playing field in Europe caused by the self imposed salary cap and now to have two English teams break it with seemingly no punishment except a Premiership Final appearance, whilst Tigers remain thoroughly shackled from any decent growth, is just an embarrassment. Add that to the BS about not being able to play at WR because the area around the pitch was too small and the complete lack of any decent atmosphere and you've got yourself a shit spectator sport. EDIT: Did anyone see Martin Crowson tweet about Bath fans singing 'cheerio' to Tom Youngs last week? Twitter was full of Tigers fans calling them classless, football wannabes etc. It's almost like they want to be hated.

Gloucester and Bath have the worst fans in England, from my experience of visiting their grounds. It's a bit of a coincidence that they also have no football teams. The "Shed" at Gloucester is not a safe place to be. I remember a good few years ago I had to rescue a nurse from Leicester, who was being kicked and punched by a group of their hard core fans, after losing to us, and managed to get her away safely, and onto our train.
Bert Posted 29 May 2015 Posted 29 May 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans.
SystonFox Posted 29 May 2015 Posted 29 May 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans. How many do you genuinely know?
SystonFox Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Plenty, why? Quite a generic thing to say. I know so many rugby fans and very little of them are arrogant. You get the odd one, of course, but that's life. You do have a huge chip on your shoulder concerning Rugby Bert
fuchsntf Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans. infantile, from both set of supporters. I played/support both sports, plus others and..Any individual who uses the word hate towards any sport, any pasttime, any hobby, really does have a massive problem, they do though, share the same trait...they are simply all knobheads.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans. Bert, you have gone way down in my estimation! I used to enjoy your sensible posts, but you have really shot yourself in the foot, with such a trashy, nonsensical, and moronic bilge filled post. You clearly know nothing about us Tigers fans. We are no different to City fans, except in one respect, and that is that we don't cause trouble, either inside or outside the ground. Give me Tigers over City, every time.

I'm pretty sure you've just done exactly what you accused Bert of - a sweeping, generalised, catch-all statement. I think you get a few from both sides sneering at the other, but the vast majority are fine.

Finnegan Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans. You like Sparky don't you? C-man? Plenty of Tigers fans are just normal people and surely you out of everyone here knows that City also have some pretty ****ing stupid cvnts supporting us, the amount of grief you've had on here.
Darkon84 Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 I've never understood this whole thing about Tigers fans being snobby etc. I've never met a bad one, ever, and I can say that after being a season ticket holder there at point for 6 years, and having followed them my whole life all over the country and Europe. I have however, met loads of d1ckhead City fans, even fighting with each other. I can just never get my head around why it has to be one or the other for most people. Both teams are from the same City, MY City, OUR City, so why can't people just get behind them.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Same, apart from the Tigers. If I was to say what I wanted to, I would be banned again! I'll leave that to your imagination, but you sure do have an inferiority complex. It may well be justified,; I can only guess.

That's not my fault people have a problem with it.
Mike Oxlong Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Tigers fans are the reason I hate them! So arrogant and see themselves far superior than football fans. I don't care if you luv em or hate em. Free choice, your choice. However, I do think that in pure evolutional terms your average Tigers fan is more advanced than your average City fan.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 June 2015 Posted 24 June 2015 Anthony Allen forced to retire through injury, at the age of 28. Bloody big loss! Best wishes Anthony.
