April, however, was also the month that saw Mourinho’s Chelsea team clinch the top-flight title after they dropped just two points in the goalless draw away to Arsenal. Mourinho’s failure to be named Manager of the Month for April means he has not won the award this season – which led to the Portuguese joking about wanting to give panel members a ‘hug’, or rather, a little strangle if he ever saw them. ‘My objective for the season is to be champion and what comes comes and what doesn’t come, doesn’t come,’ Mourinho said. ‘I prefer not to comment, but I would like to know the people in the panel. Who are they because maybe someday I meet somebody and I want to hug [does strangle gesture] him.’
