whitlock Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Falcao gets that a week whilst sitting on the bench. Give them £3m each, I don't care as long as we stay up
Guest Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 The difference between staying up and going down is worth a lot more than £9m to the club. If players are paid the same or differently, what do any of you care, really? And if you do. Get over yourself.
Kitchandro Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if they all got the same. Pearson is all about the team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Stevosevic Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Last season it was based on number of match day squads a player was named in, as a result, Conrad got 100% of any bonus available.
st albans fox Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Putting this to bed, a bonus of avoiding relegation which costs the club around 7 million is surely pretty standard for a newly promoted club. The players are not earning average PL salaries from what we are told (but then they aren't established PL players yet) A big bonus for staying up seems reasonable - the fact that the fringe players will get the same as those who have done most of the Saturday work adds to the squad spirit.
shailen Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I hope the players don't need a financial incentive to perform. I hope it doesn't get to the stage where players need that cash bonus to perform and if they don't get it they don't bother. I don't think this is the case with the current crop but if we bring in 4/5 players assuming we survive this season, than it can really be a negative thing. The best part of what Nige has done recently is to get rid of money hungry individuals like Beckford et al, and replace them with players that perform better as a team. Obviously 300k bonuses are not going to hurt our finances should we survive, but I still believe it isn't the right message to push performances.

I think it'd be pretty naive to think the players don't need a financial incentive to perform. However much we tell ourselves that they are here because they love the club, at end of the day money along with the desire to play football in front of lots of people, is what drives players. I think we have a crop of players who are less obsessed with money than the average group of Premier League players, but you'd have to be silly to think it isn't a huge factor. Everyone deserves fair reimbursement for the hard work they do for the club, and hard work is certainly what all our players have done.
Sir Fynwy Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Fans crying "Oh wow, futballerz are getting more than my minimum wage job " yep that's the way it goes, they don't get any tax credits if that cheers you up.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 I personally think the earlier poster is quite correct. If earning what these guys earn and just playing football at the top level isn't incentive enough, I don't know what is? Personally I'd have reversed it...go down lads and your wages are halved...across the board. THAT would be a real incentive. 300k to these guys is like a few quid to Joe Public.

The second part of your post still falls in line with my belief that a financial incentive is still necessary - whether it be a bonus for success or punishment/penalty or whatever for 'failure' - either way, money is still the motivator in both cases.
Albert Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Its not 300k per player. The bonuses are given for each time a player is apart of the match day squad. The higher the final league position the higher the bonus for each game is
Guest Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 A financial incentive isn't necessary but it's a reward for work put in. Just like a sales target incentive.
Finn Claw II Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Lower wages in the Championship will be the biggest financial incentive - and completely justifiable. Success bonus are typical for most high earners. I'd rather see a player on £1m per year (c. 20k PW) and a £1m survival bonus than c. £40k pw

'go down lads and your wages are halved '. - may already be in their contracts col but probably not halved. To those earning 30k a week (which we believe to be the top end players.) 300k is 10 weeks money. I'd be happy with an annual bonus of 10 weeks wages. 20%. Thanks very much. Your lifestyle reflects your salary. 300k is a decent incentive to them.
fazzyfox Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Speaking of deserved bonuses, I'm sure I read a quote from Top about a voucher for every fan to exchange for a bottle of finest vintage champagne next Week. Just picturing 30,00 corks popping whilst pointed at Joey Barton's mid riff.
Captain... Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 No player would ever accept a lower wage with a high bonus, particularly for a club with a high risk of relegation, unless the bonus massively outweighed the reduction in wages. Otherwise, they'd be gambling with a return which isn't worth their while. The end result is a net loss for the club as opposed to having slightly higher wages and a lower bonus payout. I didn't mean they would take a pay cut, but instead of giving them 40k a week it was 30k and I huge bonus for staying up. Most of our squad were on championship wages last season, so would have seen a pay rise. For those that don't get it and think they should be playing for free. It is not an incentive as such but a reward, the club will earn another 70 million if we stay up, the players are the ones that will keep us up, so they should benefit too. If you are responsible for bringing in 70m worth of revenue then you should be rewarded.
Freesolo Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 £300K!!! god these lads are at the bottom end of the prem and even this seems obscene, Imagine what Man City Were on for winning the League? Does Anyone know their bonuses?
cityfanlee23 Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 think people have gone a bit off course saying that the players shouldn't NEED financial incentive to stay up, and they don't "NEED" that is why they did not specifically ask for it... It's an incentive from the owners.. You wouldn't turn it down, neither would i.. It's simply an incentive that the players have not demanded, simply been given for their hard work. It's a way of potentially saving money in the short term to secure players long term.
Freesolo Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Man City on had £6.2m to Divvy up between 24 players in 2012 if they won the Prem, Doesn't seem like much really Doubt it was a Even share though
