Raj Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 We stay up,personally for me it'd be an even bigger and fulfilling season than last season. Like a few,I'd given up after the 0-0 hull game and couldn't see where the next point was coming from let alone a win The change has been phenomenal and to break history in avoiding the drop(IF) with the least amount of points at Xmas can only be described as a bloody miracle. I didn't think last season could be bettered, but can you imagine next Sunday if we don't have the R next to us!!!??? I might cry a little....COYB!!!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 When we were losing week after week, I was getting more and more certain that we'd drop. If we stay up, I think it'll feel just as good if not better than being promoted - it was obvious even months before the end of last season that we'd won it, wasn't even a contest. Now we've put a really impressive run together and are almost on the brink of achieving one of in not the most impressive accomplishment in our history. Come on!
ScouseFox Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 I've enjoyed moments more this year than last, and I've enjoyed the start/end more too. But let's not beat around the bush, a solid 4 months of this season were unbearably shite. In a year's time or something, if we stay up, I'll look back and probably only think about the good moments so that's all that matters I guess. Once survival is confirmed, 0-0s vs Sunderland, hull, 0-1s against most the league etc will be forgotten and we'll all just talk about winning 6 out of 7, cambiasso vs united, nugent at anfield, vardy at west brom etc etc.
David Guiza Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 When I saw the thread title, I really thought this was going to be a Mike Bassett rant. If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Horrible, horrible poem. Represents everything about the "stiff upper lip" part of British culture I hate.
Monk Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 If we stay up I would say it'll be our greatest achievement this century.

yorkie1999 Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Horrible, horrible poem. Represents everything about the "stiff upper lip" part of British culture I hate. Now Read it again and imagine you are Pearson.
Fox92 Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 It would be a massive achievement, no doubt about it. We were virtually relegated five or six weeks ago, seeming dead at the bottom of the league. Our recent run of form has been nothing short of incredible.
Monk Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 We won the League Cup in 2000[/quote Ok, biggest achievement in 15 years how about that.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Is staying up when you were absolutely, unequivocally doomed (according to most) less of an achievement than winning the league cup?
Strokes Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Not really, silverware is a notable achievement. Not being one of the three shittist teams in an average league isn't quite so much. If we had of acheieved our points earlier in the season, this wouldn't be talked about quite so fondly, it's the manner of the finish that has been impressive.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Another angle would be, nobody is really interested in the League Cup, all the big teams play their second strings and 1 team wins it every year, no team has ever come back from the position we were in (if we can get over the line). I'm not saying either is right or wrong (well in reality silverware is silverware) but there's certainly a legitimate argument to be made both ways.
Raj Posted 18 May 2015 Author Posted 18 May 2015 Actually listening back to the celebrations at the Reading away game and being crowned Champions,im not so bloody sure!!!.... I mean its not that often you win a league championship breaking records
