Number 6 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Well yeah obviously I'm in no place to judge! He's definitely a nutjob though. And yes, I am flexible enough thanks..... He's been made to look a nutjob by the media. The calling a journo a price one proves it. The actual clip circulating made Nige look really bad, but once the full story emerged it was clear who was in the wrong. I bloody love him. Well yeah obviously I'm in no place to judge! You could easily say why weren't the players playing for him in the same way in mid-season after the adrenaline wore off after your early run? It's the players that have got you out of it IMO. That and a decent run in. He's definitely a nutjob though. And yes, I am flexible enough thanks..... He made half time changes a few times during our run. He's as much responsible for the run as the players.
desertfox2 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Cheers, not too bad a season you've had yourself Monk Manager of the season for me! Can see him being a future England manager.

The players have always played for him for the whole season, it just wasn't quite going for us in mid season, a mix of luck, naive tactics and just the opposition being better than us. The players love him.
LanguedocFox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Also just wanted to say congratulations on staying up. A quite monumental feat considering where you were a couple of months ago. 6 wins in 8 is the something you never see from a team in the bottom half, never mind rock bottom. You deserve to stay up because of that run. I'd still bin Pearson personally if I were your owners. IMO from the outside looking in you stayed up despite him not because of him and his mentalness is only going to cause more problems in the future. Maybe that season as Robson's assistant at WBA when they did their "great escape" with 34 points had some bearing though. Thanks for your congratulations, but you could not be more wrong about Pearson. The team that played the last eight/nine matches are all his players, apart from Schmeichel and Nugent - and they clearly like and respect Pearson. We stayed up because of Pearson and because of the way the team played: the occasional mad outburst is the exception, not the rule.

Before everyone jumps on you, are you aware that Pearson got us promoted from L1 in his first season with us, and has improved our League position each full season that he's spent with the club since? Because if you are I won't bother stepping in to defend you.

4everfox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Swansea are a club that should be considered a blue print of how football should be done. Brilliantly ran club that isn't afraid to promote from within a la Barcelona. I liked Swansea before this thread and now I like them even more. Cheers pal.
The Bear Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Before everyone jumps on you, are you aware that Pearson got us promoted from L1 in his first season with us, and has improved our League position each full season that he's spent with the club since? Because if you are I won't bother stepping in to defend you. For a club the size of Leicester, that should be the minimum expected. Much like Jackett at Wolves - Won L1, finished 7th, and I fully expect us to be challenging for automatic next season. I realise Pearson has done a good job there, I just think he can't handle any form of criticism and is a bit of a nob. Plus I don't think he's done such a good job in the Prem that he can't be improved upon. But hey. It's just one opinion. The owners and the fans obviously feel differently so who cares what I think?!
AyewJoking Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 You have been on a great run and deserve to be staying up.......see you at the liberty next season. woah woah woah, 5 games unbeaten is a great run. to be where they were and do what they did is an act of God.
The Bear Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Oh and the Swansea blueprint includes binning off managers with ruthless efficiency when someone better came along. Southampton with Adkins too. Even though it looked harsh at the time.

The fact that other clubs fans dislike our manager is of no relevance. A vast majority of Leicester fans love Pearson and rightly so. His potential as a football manager is exciting. The owners would be completely and utterly stupid to get rid of him now.
desertfox2 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Decent shout if he continues to progress as a manager in the manner he has been doing. Seems to have the media side of it as well and not too contraversial. Not that many English managers to compete with either. Even if we do really well over the next few years, doubt the FA would look at Pearson unless he becomes a yes man which I don't think he ever will. Not saying Monk is, but by nature he seems a lot more chilled/media friendly than Nige
ScouseFox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 man from wolves can't just come on our forum and call our nige a "nob" can he? this a joke? think you need a spell on the naughty step to think about what you've said here pal.
4everfox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Oh and the Swansea blueprint includes binning off managers with ruthless efficiency when someone better came along. Southampton with Adkins too. Even though it looked harsh at the time. Swansea have sacked 2 managers in 10-11 years. Brian Flynn and Michael Laudrup.

Don't be crass, no team has a divine right to Premier League football. I would have expected a Wolves fan to understand how difficult it really is to get there and stay there. All I'll say is take nothing for granted. And of course Pearson's season can be improved upon. The very point you've just responded to is that that's what he does. Historically. Could still all go pear shaped next year and then I'm sure everyone's daggers will be out but for now nobody has a right to be wielding.

There isn't much competition. Allardyce? Pardew?

I would have expected a Wolves fan to understand how difficult it really is to get there and stay there. All I'll say is take nothing for granted. You're right it is difficult, which is why owners shouldn't be overly loyal when it comes to managers. Wolves should have gotten rid of Mick McCarthy much sooner than when he actually did go. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth in our second season on the last day thanks to a single goal. That should have been it for him. Then he also should have gone earlier in the next season before he actually went towards the end. I guess it was a bit foolish of me to offer an opinion about another club's manager on that team's forum when he's just kept them up. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Allardyce and Pardew would be 2 but if/when we have a better season next year (fingers crossed) there wouldn't be much to choose between any of them really. Be interesting to see where Allardyce ends up
sylofox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Can see him being a future England manager. Not a chance. Like Clough he lets his mouth run away. The FA would not touch him with a barge pole

These guys would love to hear from you on the matter. No need to apologise, nobody's going to be offended that you're so spectacularly wrong. Also worth pointing out that: I realise Pearson has done a good job there, I just think he can't handle any form of criticism and is a bit of a nob. Plus I don't think he's done such a good job in the Prem that he can't be improved upon. Is a pretty good description of everyone's favourite manager Jose Mourinho, so he can't be that bad if that's your worst criticism!

Be interesting to see where Allardyce ends up So the top four ENGLISH managers this season are Garry Monk, Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew and Nigel Pearson. If the FA continue appointing native managers then Pearson isn't far off which leads me to think the next manager will be foreign, or Gareth bleeding Southgate.
sdb Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Haha, poor Wolves lad. Makes a compliment, questions Pearson (like half the people on here have at some point), and gets absolutely crucified!!

Disagreed with/corrected more like. I don't think anyone's been mean to him, unless you're talking about me in which case my posts must be coming across in a tone I didn't intend. Always happy to correct other fans' misconceptions.
