LCFC hub Posted 26 May 2015 Author Posted 26 May 2015 What are they worth to us, or what are they worth to other clubs looking to buy? Vardy, for instance, would be effectively priceless for us, so most Leicester fans (including myself) would put a value upwards of £12m on him, some would say significantly higher than that. Barring last season where the early McCormack transfer completely scuppered the market, most other clubs would probably look to try and get him for about £8-10m max. To us, the majority of our players will be worth a lot more than what other clubs might value them at, given their achievements towards the end of the season (which admittedly have inflated some of their valuations significantly). The only exceptions I can think of are Simpson (obvious reasons), Wood (just below the standard we need), a few of the youth team, and potentially Nuge if we bring in someone else like Okazaki. I guess it would be what are they worth in relation to other clubs buying? Obviously it's all dependant on what value they bring to our team as to what we'd be looking to sell them at. I think for example the £15 million quoted for Vardy is slightly inflated due to his importance to us.

LAprice_ Posted 26 May 2015 Posted 26 May 2015 Assume all the players have 3+ years on their contract. There's a difference between the core value (based on ability, form, age and potential) of a player and how much I would be tempted to sell them for. What do you think? Schmeichel Value: £8 million What I would sell for: £10 million Wasilewski Value: £400k What I would sell for: £1 million Huth Value: £2.5 million What I (Stoke) would sell for: £5 million Morgan Value: £1.5 million What I would sell for: £4 million Albrighton Value: £6 million What I would sell for: £7 million Cambiasso Value: £2 million What I would sell for: £999 million King Value: £3 million What I would sell for: £7 million Schlupp Value: £7 million What I would sell for: £12 million Mahrez Value: £6 million What I would sell for: £8 million Ulloa Value: £6 million What I would sell for: £8 million Vardy Value: £8 million What I would sell for: £12.5 million Schwarzer Value: £40k What I would sell for: £20k Konchesky Value: £130k What I would sell for: £85k De Laet Value: £2 million What I would sell for: £4 million Drinkwater Value: £1.5 million What I would sell for: £3 million Hammond Value: £500k What I would sell for: £850k Kramaric Value: £6 million What I would sell for: £13 million Wood Value: £800k What I would sell for: £1.5 million James Value: £3 million What I would sell for: £7 million Simpson Value: £900k What I would sell for: £2.50 Moore Value: £2 million What I would sell for: £1 million Nugent Value: £1.5 million What I would sell for: £4 million

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 The bottom line is that everyone (probably bar Simpson) is worth more, and in some cases a lot more, than what we paid for them. You can't knock Pearson for his overall transfer activity, especially when he had to clear out the overpaid deadwood when he returned.
st albans fox Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 The bottom line is that everyone (probably bar Simpson) is worth more, and in some cases a lot more, than what we paid for them. You can't knock Pearson for his overall transfer activity, especially when he had to clear out the overpaid deadwood when he returned. Clearly surviving in the prem helps their valuations but an important point is would these payers be as effective elsewhere? Does the manager get more out of them than someone else would. I would suggest, the spirit he has built here (and he is an integral part of that) means that these players are fitter than they might be at another club. More able and willing to put in that extra few percent. They obviously train very hard. That might not happen elsewhere. when deciding if another manager would be beneficial, it would be worth taking this into account. It's not just about tactics although that helps! if Esteban did decide to stay, I think it would say an awful lot about the atmosphere at the club.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 Infact with Vardy I personally would be tempted with anything over 10m. As much as he is great for us lets be honest his game is all about his pace and running. One bad injury he could be finished. He is not a player that can rely on his skill. Same with anyone. Vardy is integral to our game, and an important factor in Mahrez/Schlupp/Ulloa having space to operate. Take him out an they become less effective. It would cost us more to replace Vardy, either with a like for like, or with a new system of players. Ergo, we want much more for him than another club would be prepared to pay.I also think this applies more widely-we're not a selling club because we build really strong cohesive squads* who bring out the best in each other-so they're better players and worth more to us than anyone else. *obviously under Sven we weren't a selling club because our players were crap and on massive wage deals...
LCCFox96 Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 Some people are saying Ulloa's value has dereased?! The guy has just scored 13 goals (all competitions) in a relegation threatened side during his maiden premier league season! I'd have thought that means he at least upholds his £8mil price tag, dare I say added to it!
