If melt 1500 calories of mars bars into a bowl containing 1500 calories of brown rice, am I going to be doing okay?

It depends what your goals are lol

Your Insane if you believe you can build a physique from eating junk food, food's that are high is sugar and have GI index cause insulin spikes which is a bodybuilders nightmare when trying to lose fat.follow his advice you will be diabetic and fat, also he looks like he go's to the gym

You do not have a clue what you are talking about and are probably obese looking for a easy way to lose weight

http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/derek20.htm

Insulin is a hormone that is made in the pancreas. Insulin's job is to keep blood sugar levels from rising too high. When you intake a carbohydrate (let's say grape juice, for example), your body releases insulin to regulate your blood sugar levels. The body is constantly trying to maintain homeostasis, or internal equilibrium.

Therefore, it does not let its blood sugar levels drop too low or become to high. The glucose is transported to muscle tissue and fat cells, lowering blood sugar levels. This is where insulin becomes very important to bodybuilders. Insulin is very anabolic because it increases the body's ability to uptake amino acids.2 It is believed that the best times to create an insulin spike is when you wake up and after a workout.

This is because your insulin sensitivity is highest at these times.2 To create an insulin spike, a food with a high GI rating is needed. An example of this would be honey. Eating honey, along with your protein shake, will cause an insulin spike and bring glucose to your muscles and increase your amino acid uptake.

Insulin has also been shown to stop protein breakdown after a workout.6 So insulin replenishes glycogen storage, increases amino acid uptake, and stops protein breakdown.

Before you start drinking a bottle of honey, however - insulin also has a downside. Insulin also plays a role in storing fat. When insulin is released, it causes the liver to store glucose as glycogen.

This is fine when your liver needs its glycogen level replenished, such as after a workout. If the liver is saturated (or already full) of glycogen, however, any extra glucose will be transported to fat cells.

Hang on.

You said "To lose weight the most important thing is to get your diet on point, Eat clean foods." You never said to look like a bodybuilder or physique athlete. For the average person looking to lose fat the only thing that matters is a calorie deficit. End of chat. Have a nice day, thanks for coming.

Obviously when you get to the extreme of trying to be under 8% body fat other factors come into play such as ensuring insulin spikes at the right times (before and after training sessions). Nutrition is a fine science at that level, but they also have a whole pharmacy of drugs to help them on the way.

As for saying I don't know what I'm talking about, I won't get into a petty squabble but just for your information I have an undergraduate and a masters in Sport Science.

So thanks for the cut and paste job however It's completely different from actually understanding the biochemistry of the body.

To look like a bodybuilder who has dieted down for a competition, yes a whole lot of planning, testing how your body reacts plus dedication and sacrifice is required.

However for the average person it is entirely possible to lose fat no matter what you eat on a calorie restricted diet, you just won't be as "healthy" as if you did it eating whole foods.

I thought you were going to say bought the T-shirt jesus

You have a undergraduate and a masters in Sport Science wow that is impressive what do you do for a job?

Guy walks into a gym you are a personal trainer he is 25% bodyfat and wants to lose weight are you going to put him on a twinkie diet? that will teach him some good habits

This is a gym thread not weight watchers.

And not everybody who has a nice physique uses drugs.

You clearly can't grasp what Una and myself disagree with in what you originally said.

Either;

1) You don't want to admit that you were wrong and are now changing your argument to "building a physique athletes body"

2) You don't understand what I'm saying to you or you believe that accredited scientific studies showing that fat loss at a basic level is determined by a daily calorie deficit are wrong. In which case there's no reasoning with you.

I don't actually care if you listen to what I'm saying, the only thing I have a problem with is you telling me I have no idea what I'm talking about when in reality all I have said is basic scientific fact.

I've already said a few times what I do for a career on this forum and it's not something I want to bring up here mainly to not sound like I'm boasting and also as I can't really go into much detail for obvious reasons.

I asked for what you did for a living, how would it be boasting to tell us? and you dont have to go into detail im not asking for your salary. It just sounds like BS.

I ain't even got the willpower to reply anymore................

Just going to point out that weight loss and fat loss aren't necessarily the same thing. You can lose weight without losing fat ( hence why a calorie deficit works on junk food).

Just saying you all seem to be mixing these up in your posts

Stopped reading when he said "on point"

Feck off Nick Grimeshaw,

Yea you are correct losing weight and fat are completely different

It all started when someone posted that they wanted to lose some weight and tone up, which with a calorie deficit on junk food wouldn't work as his protein intake would be too low which is why eating proper food is better.

I mean If you are obese sure just eat your calories for the day and do cardio and you will lose weight

anyway everyone has a opinion on whats right and I just think teaching obese people that they can eat what they want and lose weight is very American, teaches bad lifestyle habits and is not optimal.

Where is your proof that it wouldn't work?

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/

I'll post this again just incase you didn't read it last time. This professor of human nutrition at Kansas State University proved in a trial that it works.

His LDL levels dropped by 20 percent and his HDL, increased by 20 percent. Also his level of triglycerides in his blood decreased by 39 percent! And just to top it off his body fat dropped from 33.4 to 24.9 percent.

So before you say "eating any food on a calorie deficit wouldn't work for fat loss" can you prove it? Or are you just saying it to sound like you know what the **** you're talking about?

Im not saying it wouldn't work you complete retard! Im saying that my first post was to a member who wanted to lose weight and put some muscle on, with this junk diet his protein intake would be far too low he wouldn't gain muscle he would most probably lose it.

33% fat is obese! of course if you stop eating so many calories and cause a calorie deficit he will lose some fat, 25% is fat too so he went from obese to fat great if you want to lose weight good for this guy.

Its a gym thread and people want to lift weights sometime when they go to the gym and build muscle in order to do this you need Protein and you don't get enough from twinkies.

All im saying is that it teaches bad habits, If you went to any personal trainer with the goals to lose fat and gain muscle he is not going to put you on a diet of junk food.fact!

If you want to lose weight, don't want to put on any muscle just sit on your fat ass and cant be bothered to go to the gym then follow your Diet great it will work if you are happy with 25% body fat and no muscle.

None of what you said there is relevant to my point. My point was don't say things like "you can't lose fat on a calorie deficit if you include junk food" when 1) it's a fly away comment that you can't prove and 2) it's actually wrong.

You genuinely have no idea whatsoever and it actually hurts my brain. I'm fed up of trying to explain to someone why they can't make random bullshit statements and call it fact with no proof.

Just stop spouting shit about things you don't understand, Cambiasso summed it up perfectly "I don't talk about medicine because I don't know it but I know football so I discuss it" there's no problem with discussing things, it is a forum that's what it's here for, but make sure what you are saying is actually half right. In future don't call people retards, say they don't know what they are talking about etc when actually it's you that doesn't have a clue.

Sounds like the argument that it's possible to build muscle and lose fat at the same time...

Certainly possible if you are heavy like 30% bodyfat

Sounds like someone has read a few too many mens health mags.

Everything I say comes from experience, also you are so vague try to actually have a point.

Any advice on the best exercise method/equipment for shoulder tension?

With any injury rest is always the best policy, what symptoms do you have, what does the tension feel like? is it muscular or tendon related?

Had a few physio appointments, and they said my shoulders are 'too up and forward' (poor posture) - initially, I complained that I felt tense/stiff in the front chest-side areas.

They said do 'some exercise', to try and relieve the tension, but didn't specify a certain exercise.

Feels heated atm.

Edit: I bought a pair of weights today, as physio also said my core is a bit weak.

You want to develop your posterior deltoids and rhomboids and the ability to retract your scapula. An exercise called face pulls are brilliant for this as are resistance band pull aparts. The final exercise I like is to grab a long pole like a broom handle or something similar and start with your hands wide apart and keeping your arms straight bring them behind your back, as you develop strength and flexibility in this area you will gradually be able to bring your hands closer together. http://stronglifts.com/shoulders-dislocations/

Also stretch your chest muscles out to relieve the tightness in this area.

You could definitely think about doing so stretching/yoga I was stiffest person in the word could never touch my toes and used stretching it helps with tense stiff muscles. I used a P90x stretching CD that my friend recommended to me 2 times a week and it really helped
