Sounds like a good set up. How much do you estimate you spent in total?

What's everyone's fav gym workout tunes?

I listen to either rap or random youtube mixes.

Literally just use 8kg dumbells or 10kg dumbells and do 3 sets of 15. Normal

Bench, incline bench and incline fly. Do it 3 times a week and on the days when you do it, only do that and leg work.

I can only bench 90kg 1rm, then 80kg for reps, I want to hit 100kg. I can't stand using dumbells.

Deadlift tomorrow, gonna try and get 175kg.

Have you looked up proper bench press form? I saw a video a few weeks ago and didn't realise it was more complex than back flat and press.

You need to be retracting and depressing your scapula and arching your back. This video is good but there's some comments on it to expand further.

Yeah done all this mate done a fair bit of research, but my form is always sloppy.

Just general progression worked for me mate, every time you go in add 2.5kg. So do 5x5 at 80kg, when you can do that go to 82.5 until you can do 5x5, then 85kg for 5x5 etc. Takes time but don't give up!

Had a big back session today, hit 100kg for reps on deads for the first time since injury so making progress!

But remember, weight isn't everything.

Yeah that's what I do for 5x5 etc but just can't seem to hit above 90kg. I might run 5/3/1 for bench.

People over complicate weight loss so much, track your macros. if you don't there is no way of telling if you are in a calorie deficit. It will be difficult to get to 8/9% in that short space of time, especially if it's your first cut, you will inevitably platue and fat loss slows down. Also, 8/9% you are looking at physique competitor levels there.

Best gym in Leicester is David Lloyd narborough, that is undisputed. Been to sole fitness for a session the other week, very very busy at peak times but good range of equipment.

Cutting for Ibiza (standard) sitting at around 11% with 5 weeks to go.

Ever checked out t-nation.com? They have some decent articles about plateaus and the like.

Completely agree. You use calipers to measure your bf?

Hotbodys on Belgrave Gate if you want to get big is the place to go.

Thanks, at DL they measured it for me.. Can use callipers but not that accurate. Best is just focusing on losing 1lbs per week, no more as this will be too quick (inevitably lose muscle)

Been there mate, very underground kind of gym. Again good equipment but quite intimidating for a lot of people

In all seriousness a lot of sense being chatted here (bar the cutting for Ibiza comments)

Good thread

Take it for a pinch of salt, getting in shape for summer. If that's allowed?

Me and my mate (he has a fitness YouTube account and he talks a lot of sense) this was warehouse gym in leicester. Highly rate this place too. Very bodybuilder esque type of place though so not for everyone which is understandable

That gym looks ace. Whereabouts in Leicester is it? Whenever I come home its always for about a week but I miss working out. Do you need to be a member or can anyone come in?

Think it's North Leicester mate, not far from city tbf. I paid for a one of session for £6 which is okay every now and again However, they have put their prices up to £9 For a one off session and over 40 for a membership so quite expensive. In terms of bodybuilding gyms, it's on another level

As someone more interested in my aerobic fitness than my size or strength, I've got to be honest I'm very ignorant when it comes to a lot of gym stuff.

It's always baffled me a little, how do you accurately measure your body fat exactly, to such specific percentages?

Posted

You can do it by working out lean body mass but I dunno how to do it.

Woke up with a cold, should I still go for my deadlift pb later?

Loads of different methods. Using callipers, taking different measurements around the body with a tape, sending electric signals through the body. All of these give you a % but none are really accurate. The best is a Dexa scan, but rather expensive.

Nice vid no homo.

Used to go warehouse a couple years back with the uni's MASS Society, some nutters but loved the raw feeling in there.

Klick Fitness is full of half-committed resolutioners who glue themselves to their phones for about 70% of their 'workout', such a pathetic vibe in there although it's a decent setup

Pro tip: Don't try to wash your face for at least 5 minutes after spamming the forearm training. It was like school all over again except it wasn't Barry Forde making me hit myself.
