I've tried scrapping the powder for a few weeks and just bought shitloads of tuna and cod. Have a can of tuna before and after workout and about 2 portions of cod a day.

Seems to be doing the job but I need to open every window in the house after taking a dump as it fvcking stinks real bad.

Mashed boiled egg and tuna as a post workout snack is great. You can literally feel your muscles consuming it. I'd recommend it to anyone frankly. Maybe some raw spinach on the side.

Tuna smoothies are okay as bad as it sounds! But I cant eat mashed boiled eggs, just ordered a decent amount from myprotein for £50, can't complain at that really.

That sounds ****ing revolting. You can eat that you deserve to be ripped.

It's not half as bad as it sounds. The two flavours nicely balance each other out. Adding a teaspoon of mayo or salad cream goes a long way as well.

Eek, sounds like one of those disgusting things you hate having but inside you know it's good for you. Reminds me of cottage cheese.

One of my mates gets his from Olympus Health, meant to be a bit cheaper than the others. He got lemon yoghurt flavour and it tastes a lot nicer than you would be think

Started working out again after a long time of being lazy, I was always amazed at how long it takes to make progress yet how easy it is all undone once you stop!

Myprotein had a sale yesterday, managed to get 3kg of chocolate whey for £18 so that will get me started again (always check hotukdeals for protein deals) I always just used The Gym in the highcross and go really early before work, it's not too busy then!

Managed 3 days on the trot, and feel so much better for it. Hooray for half term! It's a shame that I know I'm not able to keep it up over the next week.

Quick question, what does everyone do, rep wise, when doing bench press? I tend to do four sets (normally about 10/9/8/7), but wondering whether to change it up a bit and try with lower reps.

I have the most pathetic body type you'll ever see. At just under 6ft 2" and only weighing 9 Stone, I look like I just got liberated from Auschwitz.

I've been going to the gym twice a week with a few mates now for 3 or 4 months and have seen very little improvement to be honest. My arms are slightly bigger but everywhere else hasn't really improved.

The only thing I know I'm doing wrong is not taking protein supplements, but to be fair I do think some people have to work so much harder to build muscle than others, just like some people put on fat so easily.

It is all about calories, you need to eat at least 200 more than you need mate. At your height you would be looking at at least 3000kcals. And don't say "I eat loads" cos you just need to eat more.

How is your appetite? If it isn't big either get more liquid calories or eat higher calorie foods.

This is spot on. The biggest thing people struggle with when trying to put on weight is actually consuming enough calories. Being a natural ectomorph just means you have to consume more than somebody who has a slower metabolism. You have to eat, eat,eat and do some more eating if you want to grow. One of the easiest ways to get more calories into your diet is drink 2 litres of whole milk a day, this is perfect for people who struggle with increasing the amount of food they eat. A good way of doing it is a litre of milk first thing in the morning and a litre at night before bed. Straight away thats an extra 1350-1400 calories you consume in a day. Then just 3 meals on top of that. The best thing to do is stick to 3 big meals a day and consume your calories that way as the whole 6 meals a day thing is bollocks.

Also when you train just weight train and sack off any cardiovascular exercise. It will massively hinder your development.

What liquid calories would you recommend? I'm struggling to get past 2500kcals even now I'm making an effort.

Milk, chocolate milk, smoothies with protein powder if you have it. High cal food like peanut butter, cheese, fatty cuts of meat etc.

I used to make smoothies before bed, buy a weight gainer powder and a blender. 3 scoops of powder, 250ml of milk, banaana, 2tsp of peanut butter and some berries or other fruits. Gives you about 1250kcal, goes down easy and tastes good!

Did a bit of circuit training in the sun today, was a nice change tbh!
