MooseBreath Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 The prem is definitely more physical and intense than la liga. Only European football hipsters would deny it. And it would have an impact on Messi. Just look at Di Maria and Ozil, both cruised through the more technical la liga but have both struggled to have anywhere near the same impact in the more intense premier league. Messi would be the best player in the premier league by a mile, but Ronaldo would absolutely dominate. Ronaldo for me.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Messi is the best player to ever play football. Anyone who claims otherwise is either being nostalgic (Pele wouldn't even get in the current Barcelona side, let's be honest), rimming players who retired before they were born based on reputation or climbing up Ronaldo's arsehole because he's "cool" and they actually like his swaggering ego (Scouse.) Ronaldo is probably one of the hardest working (in the sense of training) athletes on the planet, he's turned himself in to an absolute machine, he's ****ing immense. Power, pace, agility, speed of feet, forget about it. But Messi at his best? You can't learn that. He's just a freak. Some of his contributions late season in the Copa and Champs League particularly were just other worldly.
Zapp Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 So in conclusion, people are saying messi because he's the best player in the world in the best side in the world. Not the proven premier league player who is himself unstoppable even around players who aren't world class Proof that people go with their hearts over the heads.

Yeah, remember that time Ronaldo won the world cup single handedly with Portugal? No idea what Real are doing surrounding Ronaldo with dross like Benzema, Kroos, Rodriguez, Bale, Modric and co either. What a waste of a great player in such a shit team. .... Wait...

Messi hasn't done anything on the biggest stage - the International stage - to make him the best player ever. Not saying you have to win it either (of course the likes of Platini and Cruyff never won it). But you've got to do something. Maradona dragged Argentina to the World Cup final and won it. He was the competitions best player in 1986. Go to Argentina, they all love Maradona more than they love Messi. But if we're referring to players I saw, then I still view Zidane better than him. We're talking about a player that performed at every single level of football, including scoring two goals in a World Cup final. The only exception is always Best because he never played in the World Cup finals.
ScouseFox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 and if we're going on about not being able to learn the talents of players, ronaldinho makes messi look like barry hayles. come on fin just admit he ain't all that. carried by his teammates against some league two standard defences week in week out.

Although he probably didnt quite deserve it, Messi won player of the tournament in Brazil last year and dragged Argentina to the final pretty much on his own

I'm not saying the Premier League isn't more physical, but people go on like you don't even get tackled in La Liga. Plus, I don't think it would get the better of Messi. He would take the piss of any league in the world.
ScouseFox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 tbf there isn't many a defence who love nothing more than just booting the opposition than ramos & pepe and messi regularly makes them look worse than hobbs and morrison.

Watch Messi play and watch some of the defending in this league. He would eat it alive.

Donut Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 I thnk perhaps Ronaldo is more complete, not necessarily better though
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Pele was better than either, imo. Messi, though, out of the two.
Freesolo Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Pele was better than either, imo. Messi, though, out of the two. Its really hard to compare players from different era's in any sport, would Pele average a goal a game in modern football i doubt it but there is no denying he was the best player of his era
Dan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Anyone on here who says they've seen Pele play more than five times is a liar, or old.
