The Thais have dug themselves a hole.

Replacement manager better be amazing otherwise we have gone backwards.

We better finish above 14th otherwise we will have gone backwards.

As consolation we assured ourselves that this was not “a football decision”, but an “owner’s decision”, made by a tyrant putting himself above an achievement which gave an entire community such joy. As Richard III, the first despot of Leicester, put it (with a little help from a playwright), “Conscience is but a word that cowards use..” Big man, indeed.

Big man, indeed.

Beautifully put.

Jesus, absolutely scathing.

They've brought even more negative press on their brand by doing this.

They've brought more negative press by not being more open about it, that piece is a massive hatchet job based on zero facts, they will either have to suffer in silence or reveal what really happened to cause the axe to swing.

That would potentially deflect the attention away from them and their brand and on to Pearson as he has most likely said or done something to bring about his downfall, but I suspect they won't do it, even if it would protect their brand image.

All somewhat akin to the Martin Allen - Mandaric parting of ways.

One minute best buddies next minute an irreconcilable relationship.

Nigel Pearson called me an ostrich but he is the best manager Leicester City have ever had IT may well have been my birthday on Wednesday but despite the numerous messages suggesting otherwise, karma did not give me the best possible present.

Nigel Pearson salutes fans after last season's draw with Sunderland secured Premier League safety

Friends and colleagues seemed to believe I was delighted that Nigel Pearson had been sacked as Leicester City manager, two months on from his now infamous ostrich rant at me.

But I am genuinely disappointed he has left. He departs the King Power Stadium as statistically the greatest manager in the club's history, having turned around the East Midlands club in his two spells in charge.

And although his blast from nowhere post-Chelsea became headline-making news, I always had a decent relationship with him otherwise.

Away from the glare of the television cameras and press conference environment, Pearson is engaging company, a charming and fascinating man.

There are not many top-flight managers who go down the local for a Sunday pint. He was someone who was uncomfortable in the public eye. And he was not desperate to be liked either.

But unfortunately he made some truly desperate PR mistakes and, aligned to the fallout caused by his son James' role in the Thai tour racist sex orgy, it was just all too much for his owners in the end.

Pearson was involved in numerous PR blunders, including his altercation with James McArthur

In hindsight Pearson should have apologised for his "f*** off and die" fan rant post-Liverpool. He felt as if he was in the right after being handed some unacceptable abuse himself. But two wrongs do not make a right.

And he should never have grabbed James McArthur around the neck even if it was in jest and his defiant tone post-match made the problem worse.

His naive post-match outbursts at one journalist for whom he called a p**** and separately with the ostrich tirade at myself did him no favours. They were completely unnecessary.

And without those incidents he would probably still be in charge of the club. He was left in an impossible position post-Thailand but his perceived loss of power with the decision to axe James taken away from him the final part of a damaged relationship with the owners.

I have no doubt at all that Pearson will be back at the very top very soon. He would make a decent choice for any Premier League club who loses their manager or at the very least a top half Championship side.

However, he knows he must learn from the mistakes that have presented a picture of him that is not correct. He must be more open and light hearted in press conferences and must present his truer persona. And the off-the-field scandals cannot be repeated.

Leicester are now a club in shock. Pearson had a lot of power at the King Power Stadium and staff are unsure how to react.

Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh are likely to follow Pearson to his next club so the new manager will need to bring in his own staff.

The decision by the club to axe son James appears to have been the final straw for Pearson

It is unlikely Leicester will change their structure so it could mean a similar-style leader to Pearson replaces him.

It is an attractive club for any candidate though. They established themselves as a club good enough for the Premier League last term and, with the arrival of Shinji Okazaki, are in good shape off the pitch.

Few managers can join clubs in as stable a position as Leicester - and that is to Pearson's great credit.

Beats me how anyone can come to conclusions about whether the owners have/have not done the right thing without knowing the facts of the reasons for the dismissal

No more sensible posts like this on the internet please !!!!

If you're quoting that article you really have to include this for balance - and to highlight that you shouldn't take the press too seriously... even the broadsheets.

It's interesting to here people cite Pearson harming the club's image as a reason to sack him. Yet this decision has made us look far worse than any of the things Nigel did. I think 'image' is a bullshit reason personally, just find it amusing how hypocritical certain people are.

I think the reaction to this decision has been more negative than the reactions to previous incidents. People think we haven't a clue what we're doing.

Not that any of it matters of course. As long as you aren't seen as a racist or sectarian or violent club reputation doesn't mean much at all.

I agree with all of this and I'm worried we will be heading straight back for image of substance with the next appointment.

The amount of people who seem to think they automatically know what they are doing because they are businessmen is scary and makes no sense at all, Vincent Tan is a brilliant businessman, Tony Fernandes is, it doesn't mean a jot when it comes to football as it's totally different to what they have been successful in.

It really does worry me the biggest decision in the history of our football club is now possibly in the hands of a 30 year old Thai who watches football every now and then when there is no polo to play.

Judging by the names currently in the frame I don't think there is an argument for style or much substance between any if them

Captain,

You're a considered poster, so I've read all this thread in various states of annoyance and resignation. In essence I are with your sentiment, but not the timing and certainly not the title. We've seen Pearson before-once he gets it right, we flourish. Our best chance of 'doing a Southampton' was with him in place, and while I appreciate the balance of the argument (move on and support the team), it seems a bit soon to not offer some dissent.

Of course we support the team, and in time all this shall pass. But the Top/Vichai bond with the fans has been seriously damaged and rightly so. It isn't their club, it's our club, and they're running the finances in the background.

It's disingenuous to move on with a shrug-we all saw what could have been with the formula cracked, Huth in and a style of play that troubled the big sides while reliably beating the small. That cannot go unmourned.

I seriously we hope we get a proper manager in who can build on these excellent foundations, but if we do it will be by luck and not judgement. All judgement says NP should have stayed.

All fair points, and like I am not a Pearson fan, I am not a fan of the owners either, I am a Leicester Fan, and the club is more important than all.

We need to move on and we need to move on quickly, protesting and petitions are not the way forwards. The only thing we know for certain is that the Thais still own our club and Pearson no longer manages it. Their relationship has broken down, we don't know all the reasons why, but we do know it has and there are 3 possible options:

1. Continue with the board and manager at odds with each other, this is not a healthy scenario and will result in more chaos probably in the middle of the season when we go on a bad run and will eventually lead to option 2 or 3

2. Sack the manager, causes disruption in the dressing room, and amongst the fans as well as chaos on and off the field

3. Sell the club, this is not a quick process, it could drag on for years, during which investment will dry up players and other assets could be sold, probably causing 2 to happen anyway. If they did sell the club quickly there is no guarantee that we will be bought be good owners.

Of the 3 options, none of which are good options, 2 is probably the best, it is preseason, we have time to get in a new manager, we will recruit the manager based on who is the best candidate, there is time for him to gain the trust of the players. We can continue with recruitment and by the time of the first game it will all be background noise to what will prove to be an interesting season.

Maybe it is too early to think about this rationally, and part of me wants them to reinstate Pearson, and we all pretend this never happened, and part of me is angry with the owners, but I'm also angry with Pearson, they are both responsible for the relationship breaking down, but one was more expandable than the other.
