Whereabouts do you sit out of interest? It did sound brilliant up in SK1 and thought people caught on to the words pretty quickly.

Appreciate what you're saying to some extent, but if we did that it'd just be about 45 minutes of 'Owoahwoahwoah' (let's face it, most don't join in with the words to 'Taking us to Europe', just the noises) and 45 minutes of 'Ranieri's Blue White Army' (which sounds awesome, but again, people weren't interested yesterday when it did get going).

We just have to face facts that most people aren't interest in singing for the vast, vast majority of the game whatever chant's cracking off.

Last bit is true and what I've been saying for ages, especially regards clappers.

But you've got more chance getting the prawn sandwich brigade to join in with We Love You and Everywhere We Go than something made up in the last week or two.

That's why I'm an advocate of "pop" chants, even if they're boring or a bit generic, if the end result is more people getting involved then fantastic.

End of the day, I don't think the players are out on the pitch thinking "Jesus, the song they sing for me is crap", they just want volume. That's why we do it, isn't it? Rousing the players?

I'm pretty sure that's more important than being the Coolest Football Club Evaaaar.

There has to be a mix though surely? There is absolutely no way that you'll get the West stand to join in with the "pop" chants for 90 minutes so when they're a bit subdued then you can mix it up a little? Then when you get back round to doing the well known songs they join in again.

It's not just about singing new European songs to be seen as "cool" (whatever that means), it's about keeping old chants going as well

As I say though, the 'pop tunes' are being sung but people in general who are non-singers won't sing anything for more than a minute at most the vast majority of the time, whatever the song is, anyway. So even the facetious example I used of singing two songs all game on repeat wouldn't affect the overall volume. The biggest factor in whether people join in or not is what's going on on the pitch.

Anyway, I don't want to get too entrenched in a debate about this or come over as critical of anyone's willingness/non-willingness to raise their voices because overall I thought the atmosphere was great yesterday, especially if you factor in the kick-off time and stuff like that.

Indeed. I'd go so far as to call it one of the best of the season. There was a real sense of belief and passion in everyone, even outside the ground in the build up.

Leicester boys are we,

Proud of our city,

In the good times and the bad,

we'll always back the lads.

We gonna win the league.

Thanks for that, heard it being sung but a few of us lower down couldn't work out the words

The Leicester boys are we song is brilliant. In all honesty, I dislike when your smiling and we only love the boys in blue as do quite a few people I've spoke to. No one really sings along apart from our small section in SK1.

However, I think this new song can really take off. Buzzing for the next home game already!

What are the words to the Filbert Street song?

Some folks talk of Liverpool and Manchester

But we don't care about them cause we love Leicester

Oh I've got a feeling and it's so sweet

The feeling that I get when I pass Filbert Street

It's crazy but it's true

We only love the boys in blue

Doesn't make it anymore popular. No one seems to join in with it

Probably because by the time they realise someone has started singing it it's over because it's sung way too fast.

WYS is completely ours and a strong part of our DNA. It SHOULD be our main belter! Saddens me that so few sing it. One good youtube recording of it and I'm sure it would pick up.

baker11 is right. I've got to say I would really like us to sing WYS like other teams do their anthems. I reckon if the song was to be played pre match at Filbert Way through the tannoy system I'm confident it would take off and then once we do sing it and get accustomed to the song pre match every home game, I feel we then wouldn't necessarily need the tune to back it up. The choice of the version of the song remains difficult to agree on though with supporters (understandably).

Leicester boys are we.....

What a great song, has a real European feel to it, especially with Bochum Julian standing on his seat leading it. Shame we couldnt rescue the waving flags from the lock-up before the game. Imagine that song with a load of wavers going, and now everyone knows the words, there's no excuse. If only I could remember the flippin tune, have to keep playing the vid to remind myself. Off to practice my German now......

Depressing, downbeat monotone rhythem, sad chords and no na, na nahs in it is probably why it doesnt get sung

"When you're smiling the whole world smiles with you" - Depressing? Really?

Compare that lyrical content to Blue Moon and tell me which is the more depressing.

I think the atmosphere is magnificent. Team is buzzing, the crowd is buzzing and you join it together a you get this wave that engulfs you. Love watching you lot on TV, it's captured the heart of every single neutral fan what is happening. God bless you all, keep believing.

Yeah but theres not one na na nah in it, which every great song needs to have.

I think this discussion has been done to death but WYS doesn't catch on because it is sung too quickly. It's like they can't wait to get to end of it. The Ulloa chant is a good example of the right tempo I think. Allows everyone to get on board. Think about it - Ulloa is not one of our "top" players but his chant is disproportionally enthusiastic and loud.

Need to slow WYS down a bit, let it "catch" so by the second or third run through everyone is getting on board.

Agree though about it being "our" DNA. We just need to modernise it for the current crowd.

No but it does incorporate la la la's. Albeit very quickly sung la la la's.

I just think you're flogging a dead horse, a song thats near enough 90 years old and probably 60 people sing it, yet na na nah, na na na na na na ben marshal gets sung 2 or 3 times and 10000 fans join in.
