Impact of the fans

The atmosphere change at the KP after our first goal on Sunday got me wondering just how many points a season we contribute. Its almost a tribal atmosphere at times and fits in beautifully with our playing style.

I think we actively contributed to our survival last season and will continue to do so. I know you hear managers and players thank the fans and comment on great support all of the time but think we are something different

I always questioned it and was of the opinion, it starts with the players - The need to show us something to get us going and we will respond correctly.

However the end of the last season and start of this season, I'm wrong, We do make a difference and it works both ways, the players get us going and we carry them through and  get them going.

That's still the prevailing attitude. Nobody was interested when we weren't attacking on Sunday. The encouragement going forward these days is awesome, but we're not quite where we could be in terms of support yet.

Fan power at King Power

The fat lady was clearing her throat in March after the 0-0 home draw with Hull City, fans resigned to the prospect of heading back to the Championship. But Leicester’s decision to place 30,000 'clappers’ under the seats of home fans has been a masterstroke and its impact cannot be underestimated. It costs £12,000 a game (£228,000 a season) but the King Power is now a cauldron of noise, intimidating for opponents and a genuine spur for the home team. When Villa took a 2-0 lead last Sunday, the support of the fans – not to mention the ear-splitting racket – played a huge part in the comeback. Vardy says: “You heard the fans against Villa, they were non-stop for 90 minutes and it gives us that extra gear that we need. Especially when we are getting a bit tired but you want to carry on, not just for the team but for the fans as well. Obviously we have carried on the momentum from last year. It just shows the spirit we have at the club and we just need to keep that going now.”

Personally think that's crap.

We should be behind the team from start to finish whether we're 3-0 down or 3-2 up.

It would be great if we could make that noise when we weren't playing well. I think it can change things, if the fans give up the players do!

If you look at Dortmund whatever the score, however they're playing the volume is the same.

SHOULD yes but it never happens like that.

When the match is flat the fans are usually pretty flat. People respond to excitement on the pitch, it goes both ways.

Even L1 tends to go quiet when it's really boring.

Trust me, that's simply not true. The volume from the ultras yes, but 70k others have the same 'that's pish we deserve more' attitude as most of our fans do when losing. Fortunately they've got enough ultras to gloss over that to an extent.

Doesn't make it right, mind.

My son had a bad asthma attack this week so was off school and with me for the day. We watched the ManU game from last season, followed by the AV game from

last week. The difference in noise and intensity from the crowd is astonishing. I thought the Utd game the noise was unreal, but it has definitely gone up to a new level. Don't think it's ever been better / more widespread in my years.
