champselect Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I wanted to take my kids to watch training at belvior drive, anyone know what time they train and is it worth going, can you see much? Thanks
eddiemar Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 They don't do open sessions anymore....you unfortunately won't get in to watch training.
everton carr Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Not really but you can get autographs easy enough if you wait at the gate
tylesta Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I wanted to take my kids to watch training at belvior drive, anyone know what time they train and is it worth going, can you see much? Thanks jurgen klopp?
filbertway Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 jurgen klopp? You'd hope Klopp is trying to teach Sakho that attempting a Cruyff turn on the half line when under pressure from 2 players isn't the best way to defend.
Hollism Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I think they might do an open session in the summer either at Belvoir Drive or the KP. Not 100% sure on that though pal.
Swiper Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 jurgen klopp? If Klopp is there, it's for one of two reasons: 1. Assassination (Vardy, Mahrez) 2. Kidnapping (Vardy, Mahrez)
promised land Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I think they might do an open session in the summer either at Belvoir Drive or the KP. Not 100% sure on that though pal. If the last one was anything to go by at the KP it's hardly a training session, just an exhibition in crossing, shooting like a pre match. Was it the first season of the Puma shirts? Can't remember for sure but certain it was.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 If Klopp is there, it's for one of two reasons: 1. Assassination (Vardy, Mahrez) 2. Kidnapping (Vardy, Mahrez) Or 3. Trying to get us to join in with line dancing after we beat them!
ramadaone Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Sounds like you might have to start watching them elsewhere
Rob1742 Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I used to spend a great deal of time down Belvior Drive watching the training, before they bolted the door. I remember watching us train before a game with Plymouth, where David Pleat were running through every detail imaginable. They were running through free kick and corner kick routines that Plymouth would use, and our knowledge of them was that extensive, I travelled down to Plymouth knowing we had the upper hand. My confidence was sky high after watching on the training ground how we would deal with each threat. I think we lost 2-0 and were never in the game. Saw Alan Young and Mark Wallington having a real barny after one session a few years before. It was quite scary to be honest and I thought Youngy was going to stick one on Wallington. I think only Marks cool non reaction stopped it kicking off. Also remember turning up one afternoon and I stopped and watched the goalkeepers being coached. Ian MacFarlane was taking quick shots at Steve Humphries and Mark Wallington in a small goal and he asked me to collect the balls when the keeper knocked them back. I had a great time, but remember near the end Steve Humphries diving and knocking the ball to my feet and I couldn't help myself blasting it back towards the other corner. Humphries shot up and saved it, and McF gave me a massive bollocking. Brilliant times down there, watched tons of sessions but unfortunately it's all come to an end. Can't believe I held my job down as a sales rep at one point as I used to go down so often. Addictive as you really would see the build up to the big game on the Saturday.

Fatty Arbuckle Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Sounds like you might have to start watching them elsewhereI'll bite seeing as nobody else has yet; are you suggesting that a new training ground is being considered again?I know its been mentioned several times over the years but thought they'd be staying put for now with all the recent money spent on it.
FuchingKante Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 They haven't let you watch the training for around 6-7 years but you can still wait at the gate and get autographs/

I used to watch them all the time out my bedroom window when I was young. David Nish was the most pleasant and would chat through the netting .... Shilton had me running round bringing the balls back when he stayed late and practiced his goal kicks. The behind closed door friendlies were always interesting. Never had to buy my own footballs as there was always a steady supply coming over the fence .... . My first business opportunity ! (Joking joking !! I threw them all back ... Honest).
