Webbo Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I'd think even if Nige did get a job the backroom staff would want to stay until the end of the season now.
Thracian Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I'd think our backroom staff should be proud of the jobs they've done independently of Pearson, should feel like a massive part of the club and should be keen to be part of what might be the most exciting chapters in our history over the next few years.
Loggy88 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 He deserves better than Bristol City, he would of been perfect for Sunderland or Villa
lifted*fox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Still think it's jokes that people even expect them to leave when Pearson gets a new job.
foxaholic Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 You're right, but two of the common measurements of how great a manager is for a club is how much he improves the side (Gillies took us from a struggling side to one that could compete with the best, but left with us on the brink of the drop, whereas others have left us greatly better off than when they arrived, including O'Neill) and how much they win (for which, obviously, the higher the status of the trophy, the more credit managers tend to get; and of course nobody remembers runners-up except for, clearly, the runners-up!). Average league finishes must also come into it, as well as how much one manager's average finish improves on that of the previous. By these measures, we have only a few competitors and, even though I suspect Gillies had a higher quality set of players at hand, I think O'Neill has to nick it. Pearson wouldn't be too far behind Gillies and Bloomfield, and would edge it over Milne / Hodge. What do you know about Hodge and surely entertainment value counts for something Gillies kept us in the top tier for a decade and didnt just concetrate on the league . The international side were not also rans as now so the English players were much better .
Fox92 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 He deserves better than Bristol City, he would of been perfect for Sunderland or Villa Thank God somebody actually called them "Bristol City" and not "Bristol" considering there are two league clubs from the City.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Perhaps he is waiting for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man. Utd, or Chelsea etc. to come begging for his services.
Guest Cujek Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Perhaps he is waiting for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man. Utd, or Chelsea etc. to come begging for his services. That would piss on Dyche's chips.
Countryfox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Think he's having a bit of time out now, living off his pay off and taking a break ... theres no rush. Good idea to let the dust settle so that prospective new employers ignore all the crap and concentrate on his cv .... which is quite impressive ! Also, as time goes by he can garner even more kudos as our great season progresses ... 'it was my team' will no doubt be mentioned. I imagine that although most people would learn from their mistakes our Nige never will, which will always hold him back in his career. He did a great job for us and I think like me most people will wish him well. The longer time goes by the chance of our backroom staff joining him reduces ...... but never say never. All the best Nige and thanks for some thrilling times.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Thank God somebody actually called them "Bristol City" and not "Bristol" considering there are two league clubs from the City. Aye, yet both sets of fans consider there is only one team in Bristol - which was a little ironic quite a few years back when one of the Bristol teams played home games in Bath.
