stevelcfc Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 He's better than their current position, however, Bristol is a big city and are currently redeveloping their stadium so the growth signs he'd want are there. Interesting one, could do great things for them. Bit far from Sheff though. If true, I wish him every success.
Brizzle Fox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Can't see it myself but would be just what bristol city need. Mega rich owner whose focus has been on rebuilding the ground which will be finished in the summer so maybe he will then finally pump money into the playing side. If so could actually be a great opportunity for nige. Let's see.

Donut Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 He just has to get a job. Hes competing in a championship market where clubs are looking for cost effective options and will take a gamble from abroad, or from league 1 frequently. And there arent too many clubs that fit his ideal mould. But stay out of the game too long, and youre quickly forgotten. He probably wont manage in the premier league again unless he takes a club up. Even clubs who could desperately do with his services are overlooking him, the likes of Swansea, Villa to name two. So he will have to accept a job thats less than ideal for one, and he will have to accept our staff arent moving too. It is simply not a good career decision on their part and they wont leave. Could actually see him ending up at an even lower, but potential fuelled club like Wigan to be honest.
Great Boos Up Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I thought he was still taking a salary from Leicester City
foxes21 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 We wouldn't be where we are now, if it wasn't for what Pearson did for the club. Obviously Claudio has took us to a new level, but Nigel built the foundation for all of this to be possible. And for that he will always be a club legend!!
Carl the Llama Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Hi Brizzle fans. Don't let ostrichgate and his other controversies fool you into thinking bad of our Nigel. His approach to the game is all about the bigger picture: Finding players who not only have enough talent to push the club forwards but who also have the right attitude in the dressing room; focusing on sports science to ensure those players are always as close to peak condition as possible; above all have the right structure in place in terms of backroom staff and a chairman who is willingly to let him get on with what's necessary to build and improve. By all reasonable accounts he's an absolute top bloke behind closed doors too. The majority of the media did what they could to demonise him because he's a principled man who won't stand for inane lines of questioning from them which in turn means they'll happily put a negative spin on events like him not willingly taking abuse from absoute cvnts in the stand who don't understand what a good thing they have. Look around a bit though and you'll see that when an interviewer shows a bit of respect in their approach to him that he'll happily respond in kind with proper answers. He's unfortunate that the battle against tabloid media is a futile one. All in all you should be honoured to just be linked with the man, not because I'm a Billy big bollocks but because I've seen how he turned us around from our lowest ever position, completely transforming the mentality at the club in the process. It's out of praise for him rather than contempt for Bristol when I say that in all seriousness he should be attracting larger clubs. If he does rock up in Bristol you'll certainly stay up this season and probably be playoff contenders the next, and If Lansdown doesn't shit the bed over failed playoff campaigns between then and 5 years from now you will most certainly be gracing the Prem. If you can tempt him.
Leicesterpool Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Could you imagine Pearson taking a job abroad?
ealingfox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Jesus H as if there are some Bristol City fans turning their nose up at the prospect. Astonishing.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 After O'Neill ? Because Matt Gillies is the greatest. Good call
Countryfox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Good call Don't you sleep pus or are you on a night shift ... You're always prowling about at this time of night.
gurru991 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 He would be very lucky if he were to land the job, his reputation proceeds him. He is not top club material, plus he's a PR nightmare.
Lestoh Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Hearing that Pearson turned down other Championship offers because they refused to allow him to bring his own backroom staff. Could be bye bye Shakey et al if this is the case. Having said that, why they'd leave the top of the PL for the bottom of the Championship I'm not too sure.
Brizzle Fox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Apparently been approached and interested. With lansdowne to agree to his terms including the backroom set up and structure. Imagine it would be a new team but similar philosophy to when here. With the development of the ground they can't really afford to make the wrong decision now so for their sake I hope they meet the big man's demands
Leicester_Numan Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 And we sacked him three times. No we didn't, he left for Hull. Felt he was being forced out and jumped before he was pushed
Christoph Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Aww look at some of them saying Pearson is too good for them Would be a hard place for PEarson to go and work his magic but he's probably got a chance.
weller54 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 The good thing about Nigel going to Bristol is that he's in a position, reputation-wise, to pretty much ask for carte blanche He does like Signing French players..
Livid Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Never sure about him taking a firefighting job. He needs a 4 to 5 year project with decent owners backing him. I've no doubt he could take any Championship side into the PL if he is given the time and backing. Completely nuts at time's last year, but I wish him well. He along with our owners put in place the foundations on which this season is based.

dylanlegend Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Can't see him going to Bristol surely he'll go to a bigger club. But if it did go there at least they would take Shakey and Walsh no way will they be able to match their wages
Babylon Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 He would be very lucky if he were to land the job, his reputation proceeds him. He is not top club material, plus he's a PR nightmare. He's not a PR nightmare, the press don't give a shit about anything but the prem. everything that happened last year wouldn't have got more than a line in a match report at that level.

If you can tempt him. All of this is absolutely spot on. I'll add that he never criticises his players in public and always gives very balanced if not sometimes boring interviews. However that never bothered me. If we'd played terribly one game you could be absolutely sure he'd read the riot act to the team behind closed doors. He may have even been how he was with the media to deflect the heat away from the players. I absolutely loved the bloke here, his interviews, the way he got players playing for him and often above their capabilities because they'd hate to let him down. He just needs time, at any club, to build the team to his liking. No egos, good honest players and a good team spirit. If you employed Nige it'd be a long time til you're back in League 1 I reckon.
