Charlie Austin Signs For Southampton

imagine if they are actually paying him 100k a week what a shambles

I was just about to put this. I had read that he is on 100k a week. Big gamble from Southampton with his injury record. He wanted to stay down South so no surprise we didn't get him. £4 million is a steal and with the TV money coming in next year 100k a week will become the minimum wage for a Prem footballer. Madness

There's no way he's on 100k a week. It'll be made up paper shite again. No way would Southampton pay that (or even afford it?).

The West Ham owner said it.

And how would Gold know?

Isn't it strange that it's the same person that rejected Austin last year because of his injury problems. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Can you explain this injury record thing to me?

I've seen tonnes of people mention it. I've looked back over his last 4/5 seasons and he's played 35+ games a season. Doesn't exactly strike me as an injury prone player.

Maybe because Austin wanted £100k and he decided that his injury record wasn't worth the risk for that amount of money.

Weren't QPR paying someone about £120k a week a year or two ago? Samba? Joey Barton was on a fair whack too. Really wouldn't be surprised if Charlie Austin was on £100k

Would explain why Austin hasn't exactly forced a move.

I know yeah, I agree. He goes struggle with a shoulder problem though (or did in his early days) and of course failed a medical at Hull (though that proves nothing).

Well considering he has missed almost half of this season and has been known to have hamstring/shoulder issues over the years its not difficult to see that he has injury problems.

He has already missed 11 games this season in the Championship and its not even the end of January.

Great price, good signing.

As a saints fan, thank you for that, but that is not the reason I am posting on your site, Saints have no chance at going for the premier title, however, your team has a good chance. For years now I have been sickened by what is basically a championship for 4-6 clubs. Honestly, I would be over the moon if the foxes did it, just to break that glass ceiling and give us all more hope. Trust me I am a foxes fan (except when you play us) every time they play, I wish you all the best of luck from what I am certain is a lot of other fans from any club outside of that top six if they are being honest, sorry for the intrusion but needed to get that off of my chest.
