jch123 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 What the hell is with taking short corners these days. Just get it in the box and u have a scoring chance with the height we have. We proved it at spurs pretty much the only one we fired into the box and we scored. We took a few short corners again against villa and some of them resulted in losing the ball and ending up defending in our penalty area!!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Sometimes we take them short and sometimes we put it in the box...
The Doctor Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Obviously worked on the training ground, the move for the Drinkwater chance was sublime. Not really got that much height outside the centre backs either...
jch123 Posted 16 January 2016 Author Posted 16 January 2016 No and it was a great effort thats why we shud get more in there instead of pissing around in the corner
marko Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Did you miss Drinkwater's effort? Did you miss the resulting corner from Drinkwater's shot? We've squandered a number of chance to get the ball in the box with short corners the last couple of weeks. The two games at Spurs highlight the value of getting the ball into the box.
The Doctor Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 No and it was a great effort thats why we shud get more in there instead of pissing around in the corner Except drinkwaters effort came from a short corner. Lumping it in is the exact opposite of creating that chance.
NewEnglandFox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 We're 0 for 58 with Shinji on the pitch in the league. We can't create mismatches with all of our smalls in the box and don't have a good selection of targets. So that's why we're seeing all of the set plays in attempt to find a hole. As opposed to with Leo on the pitch, we're 3 for 33 which ties us for 4th in the league because the big man is able to create mismatches and is another target. And as we know there was another header with Leo on the pitch in the Cup last weekend. Not counted. It's a personnel issue.
davieG Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 A mixed bag is what you want so the opposition doesn't know what's coming unfortunately we tried to do two identical short ones on the trot and got sussed.
lgfualol Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I like the mix of short corners with normal ones.

Tuna Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 The corner that lead to the Drinkwater shot was a class routine. Problem was they tried it again on the other side and ****ed it up brilliantly. Should have just swung it in. To try it a second time was just silly. Some of our decision making was awful today.
Harry - LCFC Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Did you miss Drinkwater's effort? Try it too often and the opposition gets wise to it. Once or twice a match at most.
bmt Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I really like the short corners, most times it seems to end with a man free on the edge of the box. Otherwise, our corners don't seem to be great. Remember reading that statistically its best to take short corners and keep possession too.
Len Finsbury Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Prior to Huth's goal, we hadn't scored from a corner in something like 42 years. I can see why they decided to change things around a bit. Perhaps the goal from Huth last week was because Spurs were expecting another short one and set up for that. I don't mind short corners, as we're not exactly that effective when whipping them in, at least not recently.
