Guest MattP Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Just in case the ref doesn't go Cameron's way and it's a pretty important decision given the way Labour have gone this person will almost surely be the next Prime Minister. Below are the approval ratings from Tory party members regarding cabinet ministers, Osborne is shockingley low given that he is the current favourite but it's clear he shouldn't be. IDS already had a go and was a disaster and despite his intelligence and appreciation I don't see Gove getting the job as he's a bit toxic across the nation. If we vote to remain in the EU I don't see anyone who was a big face in that campaign winning it either as the grassroots are firmly Eurosceptic. I wouldn't put anyone off having a punt on Boris, Sajid or Teresa, the more I look at it they should be shorter in the betting than Osborne if party members views are to go by. A couple of long prices on Crabb and Patel might not be the worst idea either.
Itsthejoeker Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Wait, why is Boris at the bottom despite having one of the higher approval ratings?
Guest MattP Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Wait, why is Boris at the bottom despite having one of the higher approval ratings? Probably because he's doesn't actually hold a cabinet position but would still be highly considered in a leadership race.
David Guiza Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 The fact that it wouldn't take a huge amount of swing for Boris and Trump to be Prime Minister and President respectively is quite a prospect.
katieakita Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Wait, why is Boris at the bottom despite having one of the higher approval ratings? Not in the cabinet I believe and also interesting Tories seem to be not impressed by those ministers with responsibility for health and education
ramboacdc Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 if memory serves, IDS had his chance and blew it. how the heck can they even look at him when he is one of the most hated men in britain amongst the working class and secret tories?
Darkon84 Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I can't quite believe IDS is sitting up there at the top, and with Gove next to him to boot! Seeing Osbourne and Javid quite so far down is quite a shock too.

Seeing Osbourne and Javid quite so far down is quite a shock too. These aren't who members think should be leader, they are approval ratings on the job they are currently doing and on that basis IDS is considered to be doing the best, there is no chance (although it must be tempting for a laugh given who the opposition now is) of him being the next leader of the party though. I'm more astounded at how Theresa Mayis doing given a lot of people have called for her to be sacked.
Finnegan Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Chief Tory should look and sound like a proper tory. I say Jacob Rees Mogg for head boy.

It all makes perfect sense now though, but true what you say regarding May. I'm still shocked how IDS is at the top, considering how many people he is supposed to have murdered over the last few years

Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I reckon it'll be the Javid bloke just because he's brown. He'll ride a wave of Tory Asian feelgood feeling to the leadership over the disliked Gideon, May, Gove and Boris even though he's a soft-penised, effete, ineffectual debutant.
Guest MattP Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Is Boris really disliked? This guy won the mayoral race in a left leaning Labour city.
Finnegan Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Boris is a lot of things but I don't think I'd say disliked is one. Even I kinda like him in a guilty-pleasure, Jeremy Clarkson, "I know I shouldn't but" kinda way.
katieakita Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 People may laugh at how he looks but Boris is nobodies fool.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 yeah good point I added in Boris after I finished my post because I forgot him, need that second proof read from now on! The rest of them are feckers though
David Guiza Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/01/trouble-boris-johnson-how-bad-would-it-really-be-if-man-became-prime-minister Interesting article on Boris that I came across before. In my eyes he is clearly very clever and would undoubtedly get votes purely based on his personality and image alone. However, I can't help but feel that his buffoonery goes someway to hiding some of his abhorrent views.

You'll be telling me The Spectator will be warning us about the dangers of Jeremy Corbyn soon. Although if a few things he has said is really the worst they've got against Boris I don't really see a problem for him.
Jon the Hat Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Theresa or Boris I think. Osbourne wont run unless he is sure he will win, and despite making some good calls I don't think he can win now, ergo he wont run. Will support Boris I guess and remain Chancellor.
MPH Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I think to run away with the Prime ministers job at a canter at the next election, the next Tory leader needs to at least be able to relate to workjing class people and Thats the problem i have with Boris. His sillyness all seems too desperate an attempt to be liked and I find it aggravates me...
TheUltimateWinner Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I'd say Boris is eccentric but he always seems to base things on his own opinion, not general party Rhetoric.
Strokes Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Shame William Hague is no longer part of it all, he would have made an excellent PM.
