Webbo Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I'd have liked Sajid Javid but I don't think he's electable.
Thracian Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Theresa or Boris I think. Osbourne wont run unless he is sure he will win, and despite making some good calls I don't think he can win now, ergo he wont run. Will support Boris I guess and remain Chancellor. The way I see it too. That said I think the world's making a mess of itself and this country no less than any other in its own ways.
Nick Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 Boris the harmless bumbling Churchill bulldog figure? My impression is that he's leans to the right far more than is recognised. Frightening!
Rincewind Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I was in a good mood before I read Thrach's post. Pass the knife after you.
The Fox Covert Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I would like it to be Osborne or Gove. Two men with an absolutely toxic appeal to the general public who would guarantee defeat for the Tories at the next election. Might leave the floating voter with a bit of a quandary if Corbyn is still Labour leader by then. There were a couple of even more improbable names on the list. I remember John Whittingdale as a student politician. Faceless, characterless and devoid of opinion. Beats me how he ever got so far up the political greasy pole. And Anna Soubry, shrill and hysterical when confronted by anyone who doesn't agree with her. Perhaps Colin W.anker should consider entering politics.

Yes absolutely clueless, always a worry when someone has to ask somebody what their opinion is.

The Tories could whack up Adam Johnson as leader and probably still win the next election. Corbyn is struggling to get a lot of Labour voters to vote Labour, let alone swing voters and this is before they come to the conclusion they don't want Britain to be a nuclear power. Yes absolutely clueless, always a worry when someone has to ask somebody what their opinion is. She's very poor, but it was great when she took down Denis Skinner in the House and called him a sexist.
Guest MattP Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Who is Lord Felman? Party Chairman, widely seen as the man who ignored and failed to act on the bullying scandal.

Finnegan Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Here we go, I've found the next leader of the Tory party. Ladies and gentlemen, Peter Mannion.
Guest MattP Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I absolutely loved Peter Mannion, I'm sure he was based on Andrew Mitchell.
Finnegan Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I absolutely loved Peter Mannion, I'm sure he was based on Andrew Mitchell. One of my favourite characters in it, always made me laugh. Comes out with probably the best one-liners other than Malcolm and Jamie.
Guest Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Patel - non-white woman leader - sadly no chance.
Guest MattP Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Patel - non-white woman leader - sadly no chance. Morning Billy Bragg, the 1980's has called, it want's it's politics back.
Rincewind Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Jeremy Hunt or Michael Grove will take them in the right direction.

Loved it, one of the best things on TV, sadly for me the Lib/Dems based their running of BIS during the coalition especially the sale of Royal Mail and their failings at the Post Office thinking the Thick Of It was a how to guide.

They simply have to bring this show back, it would be too funny these days with a Tory government, Corbyn led Labour, UKIP and Scottish National Party all being part of the political establishment. You wouldn't even have to write anyway, the current situation writes the material itself.

Guest MattP Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 So the really important question is have you seen Veep or do I need to look at it on catch up I didn't even know what it was until I just googled it, that looks a must watch.

Guest MattP Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Unbelievable though isn't it? It's like he's he's been living under a rock for the last 30 years, the thought that a Conservative leader couldn't do well because she's a woman and not white in 2016 is so absurd I'm not even sure how to respond to it. There are still (albeit a very tiny) minority of people out there that genuinely believe Conservative beliefs on race mirror that of the National Front. For a start off I think the woman thing was pretty much covered before you and I were born, it's clearly a far bigger problem being a woman in the Labour party and trying to get the vote for leader than in the Tories, when Liz Kendall gets less than 5% of the vote of a bearded old lunatic who wears socks and sandals in a way that would make a German blush they have huge issues. Priti Patel probably won't ever be a successful Conservative leader, but it won't be anything to do with her gender or race and like with a female, I'd put good money on the Tories having a leader from an ethnic minority before Labour ever does. Come over Liz, you know you want too.... https://vine.co/v/ejAJTxt7Ktj
Guest Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Morning Billy Bragg, the 1980's has called, it want's it's politics back. Get back to me when the Tories have a black woman as leader. Doubt I'll still be alive though.

You're not even close to having a black female leader, no matter what you tell yourselves.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Get back to me when the Tories have a black woman as leader. Doubt I'll still be alive though. Unlikely for any party while black people are so badly under represented in parliament I should think.
