ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Hi all Wednesday fan here. Just wanted to find out who you lot think will win the league? I'm sure you guys as well as everyone else is wanting Leicester to win it but do you guys think you've got it? Obviously your form isn't as good as Tottenham's but you have do have an easier handful of games compared to the other challengers. Also I was wanting to ask whether you think lads like Vardy, Drinkwater, Albrighton and Morgan deserve call ups to the England squad? I've just got a funny feeling that Hodgson will take Vardy but pick Rooney and Welbeck over him when the games come. I have written a bit about it in my blog if you want to read it but don't feel obliged: http://thepenaltyking.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/follow-leader.html
theessexfox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Morgan would be England captain easily if he didn't play for Jamaica Vardy will get a 5 minute run-out in our third group game when we're already out, Albrighton and Drinkwater won't be near the squad, I personally would start Vardy and have Drinkwater in the squad. We've had the league sealed up since about October I'd say.
Corky Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Great Harry Redknapp impression headline. I think we've got enough to win it but there'll be points won and lost in unexpected matches, it is too close to call at the moment. Vardy will probably go, Drinkwater and Albrighton won't, Morgan plays for Jamaica.
whetstonefox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Have a feeling you guys will be joining us in the PL shortly, following the same pattern, crap for years, bought by Mandaric, sold to a Thai consortium....
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 No way is Wes Morgan Jamaican!! Nottingham born and bred, that is some shocking news for me cause I genuinely think he'd show up any of the so called "top 4 defenders" (e.g. Phil Jones, Smalling, Gary Cahill, Callum Cahmbers, etc.) It's shocking that the most consistent team in the league will hardly get a look in. Always been the same though.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 I think the run in for the title is going to be very close. I feel we can do it, but this depends if we can maintain our good performances and results for the last 12 games of the season. I'm going to say it'll be us who wins the BPL but if not us then Spurs. Could easily be Man City though however if they put a good run of results together, they're not out of the title race at all in my opinion. The games we have left do work in our favour, and although it's cliched we have to go into those games with same mentality as all the other matches we have played this season. It's important for us to not go into any of those games thinking they will be easy 3pts, because every opposition in this league has certain qualities to be acknowledged and accessed. If we stick to what we're good at, play the way we do and maintain the togetherness and belief within the squad, that's the way forward heading into these games.

Always been the same though. He's great for Jamaica apparently. But Hodgson would never pick him, we're still just 'little leicester' to him and the other dinosaurs. Same reason they don't call up Shawcross despite him obviously being better than shit people like Phil Jones.
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Man City still have a chance but I didn't want to really speak of them in my blog. Aggravates me that a club with so much quality isn't even interested in working hard and earning the wages that are most likely over 5 times the amount of any Leicester player... I tell you what would be a wet dream for any football fan; if you become the new league champions on the last day of the season against the old champions in their back yard. Waving flags saying Ranieri "The Special One"
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Wouldn't mind Sheff Wed back in the Premier League at some stage, big club and fanbase.
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Would love to be back, didn't get to see us in our heyday when we had lads like Pearson at the back, Palmer in midfield and Hirst banging them in haha. with what your lads are doing this season it gives me a little hope that Wednesday could actually win it one day
Finchy Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Our season will probably come down to this Norwich game in a week. If we come back firing and get a confident win, it will be like that Arsenal result never happened and we'll just carry on as normal. With fixtures in our favour until the end of the season, it would be a huge win. However if we struggle and end up not winning we could easily lose momentum and fall short. As for Vardy, Drinkwater, I think if they played for any of the top teams, they would be certainties to start for England. They have both had an outrageous season. But we know what Roy is like, Rooney and Kane will be starting. Also good luck getting promoted, love a Sheffield away day.
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Thanks Finchy. Always nice hearing Wednesday getting praised. Another question I want to know is would you lot be happy if you did lose a few and dropped to third? Would it feel like a huge let down or would fans be chuffed after where you almost were last season?
HighPeakFox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Third would be amazing, just because of what it means for next season. But right now not being champions isn't something I want to consider..........
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Third would be amazing, just because of what it means for next season. But right now not being champions isn't something I want to consider.......... Well I am pretty certain every club is backing you to do it. Good luck for the rest of the season lads, not that you need it

For what it's worth, I think we'll beat Norwich comfortably.

Same reason they don't call up Shawcross despite him obviously being better than shit people like Phil Jones. And if he did pick him he'd put him in goal. This joke of a manager has only won the Danish League title in his last 25 years in management and the square root of fvck all outside Scandinavia in his lifetime. You can only imagine what Rooney thinks about being dictated to by a bloke whose playing career reached it's pinnacle at Gravesend!?!
ThePenaltyKing Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Basically this. For what it's worth, I think we'll beat Norwich comfortably. Agreed to be honest. If you win you'll be straight back on track. But if I'm honest I don't see you winning, I see you absolutely annihilating Norwich. And I'm positive that Ranieri will have noticed the gap between games and will ensure your team are more than ready.
Wolfox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Wouldn't mind Sheff Wed back in the Premier League at some stage, big club and fanbase. Proper ground too... Like their away end too
promised land Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Out of interest Thepenaltyking, do you get the half time, full time Prem results at your games, if so are people talking about how we're doing? Always wondered if we are mentioned at other grounds due to this seasons performance, rather like when we're on the box, pubs in other cities showing it, who are they cheering on when goals go in. Being at the games you kind of miss all of this. Plus in the city every man and his dog has become a fan now, wondered what it was actually like outside our bubble. Good luck with your season anyway, hillsborough away end doesn't have the best concourse I've ever been in but great away day.
LanguedocFox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Have a feeling you guys will be joining us in the PL shortly, following the same pattern, crap for years, bought by Mandaric, sold to a Thai consortium.... ...Nigel Pearson as manager. Good luck to Wednesday, although i have hideous memories of the time you beat us 3-1 in the last home game of our 2007-8 season, which is the result that really sent us down to the third tier. The only live game I saw all fvckin' season as well.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Proper ground too... Like their away end too Yep. All round good club.

I can tell you this on behalf of about 99% of all football fans outside of Leicester City, we all want Leicester to win the league. Simply because you've better and more consistent than everyone else also because it shows you don't need a big bank balance and an even bigger ego to win it, your club genuinely gives me hope that one day Wednesday can replicate it
foxfanazer Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Great club are Wednesday. Hope you join us in the prem soon
