It says everything about the quality of football "journalism".
Finnaldo Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Most excited about: I Believe in Miracles, the Jonny Owen documentary-film about Nottingham Forest, 1975-80, and the kind of implausible success story that could never happen again. To be serious, I'd imagine he's done more than one premier League prediction last year, and a lot on here were happy to stay up at the beginning of the season.
Fox92 Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 I don't get this sort of stuff. Nobody in the World can predict the future. If he had us to go down, so what? I think everybody on here said Watford would go down but look how well they have performed. It's one of those things, hindsight is a wonderful thing,
Voll Blau Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 So, Football Journalist of the Year should be based on the winning candidate's ability to accurately predict Leicester's league position? OK...
Mark_w Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 I don't get this sort of stuff. Nobody in the World can predict the future. If he had us to go down, so what? For purely selfless reasons I'm inclined to agree.
Brizzle Fox Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Was probably wishful thinking on his part bearing in mind he is a Forest fan! Did start his career covering City in the O'Neill years though. To be honest I've always thought he is usually a pretty good read

I think everybody on here said Watford would go down but look how well they have performed. It's one of those things, hindsight is a wonderful thing, It's not just hindsight though is it? At the time most of us were saying that relegation was a ridiculous prediction and I'd be very surprised if anyone who paid legitimate attention to us and Villa last year thought they were a better team than us. I will take your point about Watford though.
Steven Posted 23 February 2016 Author Posted 23 February 2016 So, Football Journalist of the Year should be based on the winning candidate's ability to accurately predict Leicester's league position? OK... Deep, well informed; where?
Voll Blau Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Deep, well informed; where? Er, presumably in the dozens of other pieces of work the judges will have considered rather than the one piece you did?
Guest MattP Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 I've never even heard of him. Henry Winter has always been on a different planet to every other football journalist for me anyway.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Great writer. His SportsBlog is well worth a read. Up there with Winter for me.

It says everything about the quality of football "journalism". Speaking of Taylors, how about Louise Taylor and her prediction for the relegation spots: Relegated: Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford. Well they do say what goes up must come down ... Leicester could also be in the mix but Claudio Ranieri may just exceed expectations. Well done. Very well done. That's her, btw: http://www.theguardian.com/profile/louisetaylor
CosbehFox Posted 24 February 2016 Posted 24 February 2016 He's actually written more than one good, balanced article on this season
