Guest MattP Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 After speaking to a lot of people tonight I've never been more convinced there is a market for a new sensible non radical non poor hating centre party. Everyone is pissed off with everything and no one seems to want to vote for any current government or alternative.

MONreborn Posted 1 April 2016 Author Posted 1 April 2016 Speaking from within the medical profession I'm sure that the tories have lost the votes of the majority of doctors in thus country (and their family and friends) The way they are slowly privatising the NHS and discriminating against women doctors is a national disgrace
Webbo Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Nice diversion! Those pay rates are for teachers in the "upper pay ranges" - more senior and very experienced teachers. Here are all the pay scales: https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/why-teach/competitive-salary-and-great-benefits So, starting salary for a qualified teacher is £22,244. (Edit: So about half the income needed to benefit from the higher-rate tax cut for those on £40k+....whom you consider to be "hardly billionnaires" ] Tbh I was just on my way out and didn't have time to read the article properly. I just saw that bit and couldn't resist
Alf Bentley Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 The Tim Montgomerie party would do me fine Not my politics, but I always appreciate his contributions as a TV commentator He's one of the rare thoughtful people on either side of the political divide. Usually has something well-considered to say, even if I don't agree with it. Tbh I was just on my way out and didn't have time to read the article properly. I just saw that bit and couldn't resist You're a scoundrel! I expect you were out at another champagne supper for overpaid painters & decorators celebrating their tax cut. Out all day today, so you'll have a blank canvas without my "Yes, but..." contributions. Probably just as well. Looks like one or all of us are starting to wind up Izzy Muzzett.

Looks like one or all of us are starting to wind up Izzy Muzzett. . I'm not wound up Alf me old china, just constantly amazed at the amount of time, effort and passion that goes into political debate on here. I hope everyone enjoys the discussion but I just can't see what it all achieves apart from people venting their spleen. Maybe it's no different from the Leicester City threads in that respect. I don't vote and can't see the point in it all so I'm not qualified to join in. But I enjoy reading the views of the well informed on here. I'll continue 'lurking' from a distance if I may? Cheers
Bryn Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Christ, was it only a year ago these shit houses got voted in? How do we get another election called?
brockmyster Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Christ, was it only a year ago these shit houses got voted in? How do we get another election called? Guy Fawkes it
The Doctor Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Christ, was it only a year ago these shit houses got voted in? How do we get another election called? Barring a back bench rebellion, you don't. They've got an absolute majority so should ride out any VoNC even if one was brought forward.

Bryn Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Hopefully we vote to stay in Europe and that rebellion materialises.

They will be on massive wages soon enough to compensate for having to work a few weekends, bless them
Bryn Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Cousins a doctor, he says all the doctors he knows think the junior doctors should man up like they did in training. They will be on massive wages soon enough to compensate for having to work a few weekends, bless them Your cousin is a moron.
Claridge Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Th Christ, was it only a year ago these shit houses got voted in? How do we get another election called? The tories are ahead in most opinion polls and would most likely increase their majority. Probably because most hard working people are doing well under them, hence the victory a year ago. Not met a real person yet, who has said they would vote Corbyn. Load of shouty people on social media, but no real one's .
Claridge Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Your cousin is a moron. He is actually, typical NHS fat cat doctor who earns a fortune and moans about his hard life. He has just been to Dubai on a conference paid for by the taxpayer, Texas before Xmas etc...

Load of shouty people on social media, but no real one's . The most recent polls have labour level or ahead narrowly (which in reality means a couple of points behind or level), extending their majority is highly unlikely. He is actually, typical NHS fat cat doctor who earns a fortune and moans about his hard life. He has just been to Dubai on a conference paid for by the taxpayer, Texas before Xmas etc... So he's actually atypical of most doctors in that he earns plenty with less grunt work.

Guest MattP Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 One poll Doctor had Labour level. Every other poll since Corbyn's election has the Tories further ahead than they were in May, it would be highly probable that they would increase their majority if an election was called now. How many floating voters (who decide elections) do you seriously think are looking at the Labour party now as a serious option for government?
Mark_w Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Christ, was it only a year ago these shit houses got voted in? How do we get another election called? They'll only win again.

One poll level, one poll with a narrow lead, others showing the gap closing. The tories wouldn't extend their lead with the state they're in now. You're looking at it the wrong way - how many are seriously looking at the conservatives as a serious party still while the party is tearing itself apart over the EU, IDS quitting and making Osborne look like an incompetent muppet to the point where his chances of becoming the next leader have vanished... With the tories taking every opportunity to shoot themselves in the foot to beat the rest of the party over the EU, they're slipping closer to labour, not extending their lead.

With all the problems the tories are having Labour should have a 10 point lead. The fact that they are still behind says it all.
The Doctor Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 With all the problems the tories are having Labour should have a 10 point lead. The fact that they are still behind says it all. You're missing the point - the tories will likely still win the election if it were called tomorrow, but they wouldn't win with a bigger majority; far more likely with the state they're in they'd be into a minority government or a coalition.
Rincewind Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Barring a back bench rebellion, you don't. They've got an absolute majority so should ride out any VoNC even if one was brought forward. Shame.

Well there seems to be a lot of hatred for the tories, on this thread at least, but there doesn't seem much love for Labour.
