Then you cant have seen many England worthy right backs play in the last few years as he is clearly the best all round option. Joe Hart hands down wins this argument, he is terrible.

VLC86 Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Simpson is better than Clyne. We haven't had a solid right back since Gary Neville. It was only a matter of time before someone said that . I agree defensively hence the reason I said all round. You recon Simpson is a better attacking full back than Clyne?
RowlattsFox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Whilst he isn't the world's best, Joe Hart is hardly terrible. There is no middle ground with football fans. People say players are over-rated so much they almost become under-rated. Earlier in the season, I would have said Deulofeu but people have forgot about him now. Basically Everton are over-rated. Yannick Bolasie and Wilfred Zaha as well.

But I think Clynes all round player makes him a better full back option for England. Simpson- Attack-3, Defence-8 Clyne- Attack 7, Defence-6 (out of 10) imo.

I don't make a habit of watching Man City but I can think of at least 5 goals this season where he has stood there like a lemon and at least another 3/4 where hes been beaten way too easily. If Kasper did the same he would get slaughtered.
Jimothy Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Hmm, probably not attacking. He's not as fast as Clyne. But defensively is the most important aspect of any defender. Correct me if I'm being mistaken but aren't you one of the first to defend Stones when he ****s up for Everton? He's a prime example of needing to defend first, everything else can come once you've mastered that.

He's a prime example of needing to defend first, everything else can come once you've mastered that. Dunno why you've brought Stones into it as it's two different things. A player can still be a solid defender and be able to play out from the back.... Cannavaro, Nesta, Lucio etc - all top top defenders did it. We can't play out from the back, not that Claudio wants us to do it, have you seen Huth on the ball. I feel for Stones because he's instructed to always play out from the back. It's how Martinez has always played - even at Wigan. Put Stones into a Manchester United side, for example, and he'd be told to clear the ball when needed and play when you can.
RobHawk Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Some shocking examples in here! Whoever said Ashley Williams must be on something. Very similar to our Wes, but more comfortable on the ball. He's been a rock for Swansea for years. Coutinho - I'd take him tomorrow! Good on the ball and can make things happen. Like Ryiad, he needs more consistency but wingers form will always fluctuate. Joe Hart is a quality goalkeeper - all GK make mistakes so to say he made a few mistakes is a bit poor form in my eyes. Stones and Barkley - Both good players for me who have been coached badly. Stones needs to defend first and foremost and not worry about kicking it out the ground from time to time. Barkley just needs to learn to release the ball earlier. Sterling is the pick for me. Good skilful player yes, but needs to apply himself and effect games more. £50m? I don't think so! I'd also put Jonjo Shelvy in there - again no doubt talented but ego/attitude issues and overall application is poor. To think Newcastle are paying him £80k a week is ludicrous!

Exactly what I was trying to get at.
RobHawk Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Spot on with that. Exactly what I was trying to get at. Its one of the reasons Martinez has to go in the summer for me. Such basics missing in 2 quality young players is criminal.
Durnerz Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Wilsheres got to be up there, how can people like Woy Hodgson rate someone so highly that spends his career in A&E or the cells...
RobHawk Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Wilsheres got to be up there, how can people like Woy Hodgson rate someone so highly that spends his career in A&E or the cells... To be fair hes a good player, just never fit enough to play!
VLC86 Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 To be fair hes a good player, just never fit enough to play!Marvin Emnes?Re Joe Hart, I'm not saying he's terrible just overrated eg shouldn't be nailed on to start for both Man City and England. Recon Pep would be happy with City's goal keeping options? Edit: I did actually say Joe Hart is terrible so fair play

atomicfox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 For me it has to be Rooney,he's gone from a young exciting centre forward into a lumpy, slow attacking midfielder. Still can't believe manu gave him a 300k contract.

Joe Hart hands down wins this argument, he is terrible. That's not the point though is it? He may be the best option for England, but it doesn't mean he's any good! Seriously, he playes like he's blind, he might be quick but that's it!

AKCJ Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Spot on with that. Exactly what I was trying to get at. Stones needs to do a Dier and move into midfield for me. Reckon he'd flourish.
StanSP Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Rajeev sterling I know it's probably auto-correct but this just cracked me up loads
VLC86 Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Mangala has to be absolute rubbish VFM, considering the 'hype' that was going about when he signed for Man City. Grealish is a shadow of the player some pundits suggest he is....BUT... Overall, how the hell can Lallana be considered anything above a reasonably good PL squad player ?? If anyone still rates Mangala in all fairness they need putting down.
