Strokes Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 I think the point is that many posters on here are happy to want to let the free market work - and in fact insist that it be allowed to - and then, simply because it's a circumstance like this suddenly take umbrage at the consequences of it doing so. It's a mite hypocritical. Reselling and profiteering from your ticket is in breech of the contract so I'm not sure how you link in capitalism. You can be pro capitalist and believe in contract law can you not?

You can be pro capitalist and believe in contract law can you not? Correct me if I'm wrong, but part and parcel of being pro capitalist is letting no kind of regulation stand in the way of a transaction between two consenting parties who have agreed a fair price between them. The market and demand sets the prices, and any attempt to regulate this is interference and should not be allowed.

I wouldn't support a murderer because someone hired him and he had a decent consenting contract. It's ripping off the club.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 Putting aside the legal aspect what I'm really struggling with is why would you sell the last 3 games of this momentous and potentially historical season for £500. I'm not judging the lad I just can't get my head round it!

I'm not judging the lad I just can't get my head round it! I have admitted that for a silly sum for 1 game ie the Everton game with nothing riding on it, if it was done and dusted I may waiver. The chance to see us play in Europe 3 times next season and have ing it paid for by selling 1 ticket is tempting. However the flip side is. I may lose my privileges and never have that option plus 500 quid how sad have you got to be to lose the chance to witness history for 500 quid and if you have deprived you off spring off that chance you are a grade a ****.
Webbo Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 It amuses me, how is it that the conservative capitalists on this site have such an issue with making a profit. Man has product, demand for product has grown, man sells product at a higher price. Surely enforcing sale only at face value is socialism? I don't. I wouldn't do it myself but I don't lose sleep over it.
ousefox Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 Football isn't and never will be comparable to normal political life, if you think it is you should also argue that any true socialist should have walked away from LCFC as soon as we started spending more money in the Championship as we had rich owners, doesn't work like that in sport. You have some front to whine about capitalism though while the location under your avatar says "Kettering.. Adel... Perth....NW Leics... Perth" I imagine you might be benefitting fairly well from capitalism with that lifestyle. He has some front moaning about living and enjoying some parts of life in a social system forced upon him? Not sure quite how you can tell how much somebody is benefiting from capitalism by the fact they've moved to Oz either... Not when it is breaking a law or contract though. I wouldn't support a murderer because someone hired him and he had a decent consenting contract. It's ripping off the club. Contract legislation can be decided by the government. They could easily bring in legislation stopping ticket companies from restricting people from reselling tickets if they wanted too. That would surely be more appropriate for your free market ideals wouldn't it? I don't. I wouldn't do it myself but I don't lose sleep over it. I think it's quite sad if you wouldn't have a slight problem seeing touts buying and selling tickets for profit meaning real fans might miss out.

I wanted a ticket as well but not much chance of that now. I'm not saying it's right but I can't get angry about it.
ousefox Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 I wanted a ticket as well but not much chance of that now. I'm not saying it's right but I can't get angry about it. Fair enough. Personally I tend to find it hard to be apathetic about things that aren't morally right.
Hubert Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 I've seen hospitality tickets on sale from "reputable" ticket agencies so just wondered how they came about the tickets/hospitality they are selling. Report them to the club then, maybe you'll get a reply explaining how they got them? Fairly sure they did a deal of some sort with Thomson Sport in the last year or two.

The people doing this are breaking the terms of the agreement when purchasing, so I can think they are dicks and still be pro capitalist without feeling guilty. Truth be told if I did have a ticket and someone offered me a serious amount of money, I'd probably be very tempted.
Vlad the Fox Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 Agreed, my point was purely about the ebayers etc. Most of us have let someone else use our season tickets when we've been unable to go. Either for beer, face value or just favour. I do object to blatant profiteering no matter how small the scale. I noticed a few weeks ago that Chelsea have an exchange scheme whereby they allow season ticket holders to return an individual match and be refunded. The club can then resell the seat. We've done this for years, if I or any of my friends can't make a match we just give our season ticket to one of the others who bring someone along, it's usually the same people who have it and always City fans. It would have been no different if I couldn't have made the Everton game.
Vlad the Fox Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 Also havent Sky contributed to this? These tickets would have gone on sale weeks ago if they hadn't kept the club holding on which would have meant more people would have got tickets as the stark possibility of us lifting the trophy wouldn't have been so clear.
Vulpine Victor Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 Personally I think that the fact that the club didn't even make sure that enough tickets were available for Gold members stinks and should be enough reason for fans not to bother paying for memberships. It doesn't affect me as a ST holder. However the thought of getting £500 plus for the last three home matches sounds attractive especially as I will be in Thailand for the West Ham and Swansea games. Hopefully I will be able to cheer the lads on in a sports bar in Patong Beach. So £500 for missing the Everton game is not a bad deal. If I was younger and needed the money it would be very attractive. As it is my grand-daughter will be watching the 2 games I am missing and hopefully I will be able to watch the lads being presented with the PL Trophy from my normal seat in the stands. The last time we were at Wembley one of the guys I know sold his 2 tickets and used the money to take his wife and two kids on holiday for the week, can you really say that is wrong? I wouldn't have done it but it made his family life much happier!
Len Finsbury Posted 13 April 2016 Posted 13 April 2016 i'm sure they'll stop doing it now, well done They've saved us AGAIN!
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 For me, there is no price I would accept for my tickets to the games in this run in but I don't judge anyone else just because they might think differently. I don't know people's circumstances, they could really need the money, or they just might not feel the same way about football/Leicester as I do. To those who think it's totally unacceptable, do you apply this to other sports or even other types of events? If you had 2 tickets for a monumentally important Tigers game? What about tickets for whatever shite popstar kids are listening to these days? Would you think twice about flogging them for silly money?
red5 Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 and transparency request made to the club http://foxestrust.co.uk/4435/profiteering-fans-criticised-by-foxes-trust I thought we'd have a reply by now, So come on what's lcfc's answer?

A good constructively written post that looks at both sides of the debate will not wash on here my friend. Just have a trawl through the other relevant related topic to realise that. It's good to see that there are some non judgemental people in the world who pocess a little empathy and honesty that reflects the world we live in today, and never not just the King Power stadium when, after an amazing season we have two home matches to watch. As I'm blue quite rightly pointed out earlier in this topic, every one does have a price. Not necessarily with regard to tickets at a football match, and that price is probably reflective their personal circumstances that nobody really has a clue about. So nice one
