MPH Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 He's not daft. If he wants the likes of James and De laet, he don't need to be sticking the knife in. or maybe he is just a nice guy after all....

HankMarvin Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Hmmm i think not commenting much might of had something to with a gagging order, coincidentally a year on he takes a job and comments on leicester
Stadt Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Just get on with managing Derby. Simple. He was obviously asked about it at a press conference
FoxInBlue Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 In a way I feel sorry for him getting this job right after we have won the Premier League. He is going to be asked about it a lot over the coming weeks. If he had been in a job for a few months before then I doubt he would be pestered with it quite as much. Also, the media know that if they probe for long enough on the right subject he'll lose his cool and call someone a tw@t when if they just accepted his answers (or lack of sometimes) they would see a very genuine, nice guy who is extremely good at his job. I will always be a fan of NP for what he did with us and even though it would mean Derby doing well, I really hope it works out for him there. And for what it is worth, I think he will do well. We should admire from afar at a good manager at another club, remember what he did for us but also remember just what we have now and who made it happen THIS season. Yes some players and members of staff are from NP's time but things have changed and we are living out our most wildest of dreams.
lifted*fox Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Hmmm i think not commenting much might of had something to with a gagging order, coincidentally a year on he takes a job and comments on leicester He's got a new job, been asked a question and answered it positively and amicably. He's hardly spilt the dirty, dirty beans after some gagging order has been lifted, has he? People should give the guy a ****ing break - he will ALWAYS come across the same in interviews because that's his personality. He doesn't suffer fools gladly, he used it to build a siege mentality and it did us no harm at all whilst he was here. If I had to choose between a manager who panders to the press and can't control a team or a manager who treats the press like the annoying cvnts they are and leads my club to promotion and trophies I'd take the latter all day long. Fortunately we have both in Ranieri, a guy who tells the press the right things to keep them happy and motivates a team as well - pretty rare tbh. The fact that Nige couldn't be bothered to do the press side of things is neither here nor there. He will always be like that - and who could blame him tbh. The press / journalists are annoying, baiting ****s out to ruin your day and make a story. **** them.
Tuna Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Would be funny if stringer gets transferred to bbc radio Derby.
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Hmmm i think not commenting much might of had something to with a gagging order, coincidentally a year on he takes a job and comments on leicester He was on Goals on Sunday the day after we played Stoke away. He's not a media man, I'd imagine he was actively looking to avoid the spotlight.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Hmmm i think not commenting much might of had something to with a gagging order, coincidentally a year on he takes a job and comments on leicester He is not contractually allowed to talk Leicester for many years. I wish the guy well, did a fantastic job with us couldn't have left the club in a better state throughout given what he spent. Hope he learns from his daft exploits
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 He will improve Derby But if its a long term project, why give Pearson the time, and not Clement? Clement had a long term plan and had Derby in the playoffs, then got binned. Makes no real sense

Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Because Pearson's long term plans are proven to work. So why didnt they appoint Pearson in the first place then?
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 So why didnt they appoint Pearson in the first place then? Because Pearson still had a job. They signed Clement on the 1st of June and Pearson didn't get sacked until the 30th.
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Because Pearson still had a job. At the start of the season? hed been sacked. He didnt have a job at the time Clement was sacked either. And Clement DID have a job when Derby appointed him. So?
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Alright, so Pearson still had a job, i didnt realise the dates. So why didnt they go for him immediately then after Clement was sacked? Is Pearson likely to do any better than Clement?
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 At the start of the season? hed been sacked. He didnt have a job at the time Clement was sacked either. And Clement DID have a job when Derby appointed him. So? Derby had a manager at the start of the season. They were hardly going to sack him. I imagine Derby wanted continuity and so they appointed someone who already knew the club. Like you say, they were in the playoffs and had a great chance of promotion. My guess is they didn't want to rock the boat more than they needed to.

Surely if you dont want to "rock the boat" you dont sack the manager who has got you to the playoffs and given you the "great chance of promotion"
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Alright, so Pearson still had a job, i didnt realise the dates. So why didnt they go for him immediately then after Clement was sacked? Is Pearson likely to do any better than Clement? See post above, I imagine they either didn't want to rock the boat or Pearson rejected them at the time. Either of those. Pearson is far likelier to be more successful than Clement. Derby was Clement's first managerial job.
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Surely if you dont want to "rock the boat" you dont sack the manager who has got you to the playoffs and given you the "great chance of promotion" Don't tell me. I didn't sack him. Derby players might not have wanted him and the board might have wanted a quick, suitable and ready replacement. Nige is only two of those.

Pearson is far likelier to be more successful than Clement. Derby was Clement's first managerial job. Why? Clement already had them in the playoffs after a few months and then got binned. Why set out a long term plan and then bin someone who is achieving the plan anyway, for a manager with the same objective?
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Anyway, we will get nowhere discussing this. He will improve Derby most likely. Hes a good football manager.
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Why? Clement already had them in the playoffs after a few months and then got binned. Why set out a long term plan and then bin someone who is achieving the plan anyway, for a manager with the same objective? Because Derby's plan wasn't to win 1 game in 8. They were starting to choke and wouldn't have finished in the top 6 had they not gotten rid of him (IMO).
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Because Derby's plan wasn't to win 1 game in 8. They were starting to choke and wouldn't have finished in the top 6 had they not gotten rid of him (IMO). Well in that case, i hope the Derby board are braced for long runs without wins with Pearson too then, because hes done that in every job hes had too. Its not im digging out Pearson, its that the decision making at the Derby board has no logic.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 He truly can't take the credit for obvious reasons. Always liked NP and wish him all the best. I must admit the thought of him doing an NP does make me smile though, can't see him watching The Don and learning how to d/w the press and public somehow
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Was there any need to cut that discussion? Why did the mods cut out our debate?
