foxes21 Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 3-4-1-2 is the only formation that would suit this squad Hart Stones Dier Smalling Clyne Wilshire Henderson Bertrand Alli Vardy Kane Drinkwater should be in that midfield, but yeh with the limited/average players we have selected, this would be the best formation. rooney just needs to retire
AKCJ Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Close, but Walker and Rose need to drop back into fullback positions and Dier needs to be sat infront of the two centre halves.
Donut Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I dont think there is a formation that will suit the squad well. Squad is totally unbalanced, and weak. Would still have to say a 4-2-3-1 would work better.
Legend_in_blue Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 We need wide men in a 4 4 2 but Woy hasn't chosen any. Neither DD or Townsend (our best winger) should have been dropped. He's right about not having a system to go with as clearly the players haven't a clue what they're doing. When we get beat in the tournament, it will be a heavy one, the flood gates will open. We've too many individuals, bottlers, and team ethic is non-existent.
Harry96 Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Think it'll be a 4321 with Rooney and lallana/sterlingbehind Kane with Dier wilshere Alli in the midfield 3
stevelcfc Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I wonder how many of the players there actually like each other and get on?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Think it'll be a 4321 with Rooney and lallana/sterlingbehind Kane with Dier wilshere Alli in the midfield 3 Oh happy days - all our Christmas' come at once!
Stadt Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 we can't play 3 at the back because we only have 3 f ucking centre backs because hodgson is a big f ucking whopper
GaelicFox Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Does it matter about the formation ? Woy couldn't motivate a cow to eat grass ! Fecking shite
Captain... Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Formation doesn't matter, if anything I think Hodgson would do better to just pick 11 players and let them sort it out themselves as his instructions are clearly doing more harm than good. Kane and Vardy were simultaneously too far forwards, too far back and too wide all game if you have 2 up front you need to be fluid, one drops the other pushes on stretching the defence and creating space, it was too easy for the centre backs to just sit deep and mark Vardy and Kane out the game because they were too far forwards when we had the ball, but if Kane drops deeper he just gets caught up in the congested midfield and if Vardy goes wide there is no support so he is isolated. Rooney also needs to figure out where he is playing, he should be pulling the strings behind the front 2 not being the furthest forward, we were a static front 3 all game, this wasn't helped by the defence and midfield taking so long to get the ball forwards. Absolute shambles of a performance with no clear plan, we started pressing high then gave up, when the opposition goes down to 10 men you need to get forwards quickly and not let them set up their defensive walls. If they do you need intelligent movement, players that can beat a man and create space and uncertainty by running at the opposition not sideways passing and then hopeful long passes to your mate when there are people in better positions. Formation is irrelevant when there is no clear approach.
