GingerrrFox Posted 26 July 2016 Posted 26 July 2016 When it became apparent Kante was leaving, Ranieri went for Mendy over Gueye. Gueye was the more like for like replacement but the choice of Mendy suggests a different approach this season.

Perhaps a disagreement between Walsh and Claudio can be inferred there?

Funny that now Walsh has gone to Everton he's gone straight in for Gueye and we've bought Mendy. I think everyone can see from watching the Celtic game that Mendy and Kante are 2 very different players and it's going to be interesting to see what happens from here. Like Rama has said I expect to see 4-3-3 sooner rather than later.

Clearly Steve Walsh and Everton rate him aswell (I think we were linked to him when we were in for Kanté). We should get him in for that money. He's the closest we'Il get to a direct replacement to Kanté, in terms of his stats. So why the hell not? - before anyone says "because he's shite", please back up your statement. most will say hes shite cos he played in a Villa team that wa relegated but Villa were beyond crap, i think Gueye was probably one of a few players to shine for them, as you say in the stats hes second the Kante in tackling and interceptions although Villa fans say hes prone to the old stupid mistake, personally I'd love us to but in a bid in for him as soon as we knew NG was going but we went for Mendy, but from what I saw on Saturday I think Amartey could do well in the Kante role in time

We are champions...even or in spite of differing opinions. Conspiracy theories in football clubs....wow
ST20 Posted 26 July 2016 Posted 26 July 2016 Koeman wanted Gueye whilst he was managing Southampton, unluckily for him the latter chose Villa. I wouldn't say the Gueye to Everton transfer is strictly a Walsh influenced singing.

It helps massively if your chief scout and club manager agree on key signings. If your manager disagrees with the players the scout puts forward, it makes the scouts job seem meaningless....and subsequently, makes him want to move to Everton.

He didnt move to Everton, becausre he clashed with Ranieri... Funny how Desperate thoughts And theories suddenly gather momemtum like a snowball down the hill then Wham ...its become fact.
