Champions League Stature

I agree with this point and think we should be exploiting this buzz around us as it can quickly go and be forgotten in this fickle football world. We should have aimed a little higher I think or maybe we are and being knocked back constantly. It's not too late though. As current champions, we still have more pulling power than we ever have and we should not conclude our business yet, especially with a season of Champions league to attract these top players.

I think the other issue is, we have a team that achieved the most incredible thing, and team spirit was the main force behind that achievement, so I understand the dilemma Claudio has, as not sure how these players would react, if they were instantly replaced with some bigger names. We still need the core of the team and the team squad spirit from last season.

We also don't know what budget has been given by the owners. These new contracts are not cheap and there will probably be more to come.

I think the idea to establish ourselves as one of the elites, will never happen but establishing ourselves as a top 10 Premiership team is very achievable, but we still need 2-3 players and of better quality than we already have and so I hope and expect, our big business is yet to come. I think it will cost us 30-40 million to get these 2-3 top quality players that can keep us around the top 6 for this season.

And what exactly do you think is the next step?

It takes money to regularly compete with the top 5/6 and lots of it. We'll never be able to match what they can spend, so we'll carry on trying to be a well run ship and getting the very most out of our resources.

The next step for us is a backwards one, people need to accept it.

The next step is to become a established top 10 side, very achievable.

We have already started paying out big contracts so this proves the Thais are very ambitious, adding a few names will only further enhance the club, we don't need to go mad as we have the nucleus of a very good side.

That's achieveable without names though, look what we've already done without them.

Getting good players and not names or what they cost is important.

Yeah hilarious, shame you can't actually come back on the point.

I'm not falling into the Babylon argument that lasts forever trap

I agree with the general view that we have an opportunity to take the club up a level or two........the question is how to do it ?

That might seem bloody obvious but it's across the whole club training ground, marketing, support staff, club shop, ground, playing staff......it's actually a massive challenge for a club to grow so quickly. Having originally been born in Leicester and like so many over the years we follow our club laughing off the sarcastic comments about little old Leicester....it has always been my belief that Leicester (6th largest city), massive county and huge potential has always been sleeping until the owners came along.....

Rarely do business or football club owners tread a path with such success....we have been fortunate that old mandaric found us the BEST owners we could have found...they have embraced us fans, the town, the communit and put back in so much....they deserve our trust and patience as I actually believe we could consistently be a Top 6 club but it may take a bit longer than some would expect....we achieved something last year none of us ever expected and I will be eternally grateful for the magical experience I shared with 3 generations of my family and lots of friends....

Hence my point to all of this is it took Chelsea and Man City time to establish themselves at the top table and they threw ridiculous sums to achieve it....our owners will take a balanced approach with an aggressive but sustainable plan as they are laying foundations for generations to come...

So whilst like many i would love to see us bring in 1 or 2 top top quality players they won't be held to ransom on fees or egos that will not suit the clubs ethos. They have honourably rewarded the quality players we have which will provide the base we need ....lets continue to believe!!

I must say I prefer the considered approach - those in the club must realise that last season was a perfect storm, and to chase the weather would be madness....

There's plenty of examples where clubs tried to do it all too quick and got burned. Leeds most famously. Newcastle after a 5th place and went on a French spending spree. Make sure the foundations are built on concrete rather than sand.

Championship manager has a lot to answer for....

buy a load of expensive players because we can.. Err what about the team ethic. One of the main reasons of our success was our togetherness and fighting the underdog tag.. Buying marque players would ruin that imo.

besides look at Liverpool a couple of seasons back, didn't work for them.

trust the owners and the club to do the right thing, they've done bloody well this far
