Guest ttfn Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Zieler 7 Simpson 7 Morgan 7 Huth 7 Fuchs 9 Mahrez 9 Drinkwater 7 Amartey 7 Albrighton 7 (had a poor first 35 mins but was very good afterwards) Slimani 8 Vardy 7
adejo92 Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Zieler 7 - Didn't have much to do but made a great save when required. Simpson 7 - Solid performance Morgan 8 - won every header and challenge. Huth 8 - As with Morgan. Fuchs 9 - Great attacking play without leaving himself exposed in defence. Mahrez 9 - Great skill and some cracking long balls and good work rate. Drinkwater 7 - Did as required, nothing more, nothing less. Amartey 7 - Good work rate Albrighton 8 - Great attacking play and support of Fuchs which subsequently allowed Fuchs to attack without being left exposed in defence. Slimani 9 - What more could you ask from a home debutant? 2 goals and great work rate. Also did very well at winning the ball in the air and holding it up allowing midfield to join in the attack. **My man of the match** Vardy 7 - Good work rate and cheeky assist for Slimani's second. Not his best game but a solid performance at that.
Captain... Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Only seen highlights, how was Big Dan? Were Burnley poor or were we dominant?

My personal opinion is that he faired well and won most of the balls he challenged for. Can't say he's Kante yet however he did have a good game with good work rate. I would say we were dominant only because Burnley were poor. Leicester did not start too great and should they have been playing a team with more quality on the day, the first 30 minutes could have been costly.....after that, Leicester were great and would have given anybody a run for their money!

But I worry for him against top opposition. Against Swansea, Brugge and Burnley he looked good but I think he will get a bit exposed away at United. That's my fear. Burnley were shocking. They wouldn't have scored if we played for 900 minutes, nevermind 90.

I do wonder if we will have to adopt a different approach for the tougher games, like United away, at least until Mendy or Amartey step up. Even if it is just a subtle change of bringing Albrighton into the middle a bit or bringing Slimani back, or a personnel change, bring in King or play Drinky, Amartey and Mendy and sacrifice a more attacking player, maybe even Mahrez.
Fox92 Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Superb performance and every player was brilliant but Drinkwater MOTM for me: Zieler 8 - Great save from that free kick Simpson 8 Huth 8 Morgan 8 Fuchs 8 - Looked back to his best; superb cross for the first Mahrez 9 - Always looked dangerous Drinkwater 9 - Controlled the game Amartey 8 Albrighton 8 Slimani 8 - Strong Vardy 8 - Might not have scored but his workrate to keep the ball (first goal ) was superb as was his link up play and assist for the second. ----- Ranieri 8 - Stay Burnley 3 - Very poor, created little and were rarely in the game. Referee Taylor 4
Milo Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Can't work out if Burnley were shocking or we were fantastic...a bit like the midweek game, tbh... Zieler 7 - didn't have anything to do bar the free kick save Simpson 7 - solid Morgan 7 - even seen powering down the left wing 75 minutes in! Huth 8 - dominant. Made the Burnley forwards soil themselves with a couple of booming headers early on Fuchs 10 - can't see how he could've been better, tbh. Class, composure and a major threat with his crossing Mahrez 9 - woo-hoo Drinkwater 8 - ran the midfield Amartey 6 - made me a tad nervous on a couple of occasions. I so want him to be a powerhouse in the middle...but... Albrighton 8 - would have dragged him off after half an hour, shows how much I know! Slimani 8 - like a scoring Okazaki! And a bit taller Vardy 7 - Didn't do much wrong, but wasn't much of a goal threat
foxinsox Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 7-8 for everybody. 9 for Slimani (Motm) and Mahrez 6 for the subs A great performance. Everyone in form. Zieler looked really good competition for Kasper and a useful addition. Amartey getting better match awareness, and Slimani like a duck to water. Looking forward to United and seeing what the reserves can do against Chelsea.
kingfox Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 9 - Fuchs, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Slimani 8 - Morgan, Huth, Amartey, Vardy 7 - Zieler, Simpson, Albrighton
Thracian Posted 18 September 2016 Posted 18 September 2016 Two goals from Slim that might so easily have been a hat-trick, superlative two-dimensional contribution from Fuchs, Mahrez running amok like an English kid at Christmas, and Drinky directing operations with attitude - they'd all rate 9 or 10 with the rest of the starters not more than a mark or two behind. But more than that, it was so good to see the players working as an fully committed team again and with the confidence to express and show faith in themselves, because, when they do that, they really can be irrepressible. After nearly half the game spent working their prey, they sunk their multiple fangs in and tore Burnley apart with the merciless precision of master hunters, all resistance finally subdued, and it was some sight at times. Big game earmarked for the menu next if we show the same appetite!
WesMorganGod Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 Morgan was man of the match. 10 for Morgan. The rest of the players all did well and would have around 7 or 8 for me

OK, Burnley weren't great, (poor in certain aspects), but our boys bossed virtually the whole affair. The last two games they have performed like the Champions of England! Great point - collective team effort scored higher than players
Dickov22 Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 I can't fault any of them Zieler 8 Great save late on, commands his area well and good distribution. Remember the days when we had Schwarzer as back up! Simpson 7 Steady again Morgan 7 As above Huth 7 As above Fuchs 8 Back to the levels of last season. Superb distribution, defended well Albrighton 8 Some frustrating moments but you can forgive him with a work rate like that. Such an important player for us Drinkwater 9 Ran the game again Amartey 7 Did his job well, another good display Mahrez 9 MOTM. Magic and absolutely unplayable Vardy 6 Probably his quietist game in a long time. Did well for their goal but some poorer moments that were uncharacteristic Slimani 9 What a home debut. I said it on Twitter- he has it all. Loved his first goal.
drofmor56 Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 Fuchs...dont think there is a better left back in the Premier League..how did we get him on a free ? Amartey..think he will get even better with time..still only 21...and they say he can also play as a centre back ! Simpson....like Vardy seems to be get better the older he gets..the coaching staff must know their stuff ( Craig Shakespear ?) Quote
okie fox Posted 19 September 2016 Posted 19 September 2016 Zieler 6 (only because untested), subs 6, rest 7 apart from 8 for Mahrez, Albrighton and Slimani. Burnley 4, ref 6 (should have been straight red for Lowton near end).
