That's the night we moved house, a few years back, I wasn't spending money on decent lager as well as chinese for those that helped. At least now I don't have to invite any of you round for a nose. How is that the lads get one lager each, but your missus gets three bottles of wine?

jonthefox Posted 5 October 2016 Posted 5 October 2016 no, but i do find myself looking in peoples shopping trolleys.

Re. the left over Chinese. I was always advised not to put the foil trays in the fridge as they breed bacteria or something. Same as you shouldn't put open metal tins of stuff in a fridge either, but transfer all contents into plastic containers instead. Not sure if true, but if not then I've probably wasted a week of my life doing this over the years...

And it hasn't killed me yet. I'll live. I thought so long as hot food had cooled before it went in said fridge it was OK. Ah well. I'll let you know via ghost phase if any of it kills me
Carl the Llama Posted 5 October 2016 Posted 5 October 2016 Dunno what the rice one's all about - if it was a problem why do you get so many microwave meals with it in? Open cans are a different story though for the same reason you shouldn't leave any food open to the air. There used to be a concern with oxidation or the can lining corroding into acidic foods and spoiling their flavour but modern cans tend to have a fine polymer lining to prevent that - if you cover it with cling film or one of those rubber can lids you get at supermarkets these days it should be fine for a few days. As for the Chinese food: I don't see why it would be a problem to store it like that for a day or two but personally I'd be a little wary of how airtight those containers are.

SystonFox Posted 6 October 2016 Posted 6 October 2016 Always check the mother in laws fridge. Don't know why I just have a root around for something decent
