Recommended Posts

Hey there I am looking for the best book on last season's championship run.  I see there are 4 or 5 out there.  Which would you recommend as the best and why.

Thanks!

The Immortals by The Sunday Times writer.

Took his time before he published and it shows, only problem is he refers to Man City as City.

I've read and thoroughly enjoyed The Unbelievables written by a poster on here, it's more personal.

Also read Tanner's 500/1.

Buy them all.

I've read and thoroughly enjoyed Fez's Unbelievables book and I'm currently reading Fearless by Jonathan Northcroft of the Sunday Times which is very enlightening about the behind the scenes with the thoughts/contributions of King, Huth, Kasper and Albrighton as well as other at the club or closely linked which are interspersed with comments about the games.

Didn't really take to Tanner's book too much content from his ongoing match reports/articles.

I don't really read books, however I bought Rob Tanner's 5000/1, still not finished it (As I said i'm not really a reader).

I do plan to get Fez's 'The Unbelievables' (Atleast I believe that's what his book is called) and as has been mentioned I really like the look of 'The Immortals'.

Also there is a book by a Sunday Times writer that looks pretty good called Fearless.

For someone who doesn't read books, I'm gonna have a few on this season! Gotta be done though hasn't it!

Without doubt the best for readability and as a keepsake is the quality hardback Fearless by Jonathon Northcroft.

The others are rushed paperbacks and are much of a muchness except Unbelievables...that's more of a fanzine style, but still a paperback.

Rob Tanner's  5000-1 and the Unbelievables are both magnificent.

Haven't read Jonathan Northcroft's book yet but I'm told it's very good.

ONE TO AVOID: The Immortals - The Story of Leicester City's Premier League Season 2015/16 by Harry Harris. Just a cut and paste of quotes with no soul whatsover and devoid of emotion. Don't waste your money.

Interesting, I heard snippets on the radio, sounded like a diary type thing which I quite liked the idea of, maybe I got the wrong end of the stick, even the wrong book perhaps. lol

My simple guide to buying champions material works pretty well.

Does it refer to Leicester City being champions?- Yes- Buy them, buy them all!

-No- Get in the bin.

It is a diary type thing but not done very well IMHO. Too many mistakes, laid out poorly - expected better from a journalist of his experience.

The Unbelievables for me. Proper fans take on what happened match by match, with the ups, downs and inbetweens described perfectly!

Each chapter is alternated - match report/bit of history/next match/bit of history. Really enjoyed it as it was spoken from a fans point of view, rather than a journalist cashing in on what happened.

i read Jonathan Northcrofts Fearless and was disappointed. It's a bit of a sixth formers effort at writing, imo. Interviews with 4 players, one chairman (Vardy's old chairman) and some unnamed managers and coaches dragged out to pad the book out. Also some cut and paste from Ranieri's book..

one or or two interesting bits about coaching and training, to be fair - but not my cup of tea.

Jonathan Noorcroft's Fearless is superb. By far the best of the four I've read. It flows really well and is clearly well researched. Tanner's is ok. Nice to support a local journalist.
