Yes he's looked lively recently, but we need to defend as a team. He's a liability defensively. We slate Mahrez for his lack of defensive ability but he has the positional awareness & intelligence on where he has to be on the pitch & how to keep our shape. Gray doesn't have that understanding yet. Musa's performances Vs Palace & Spurs are still the best I've seen from our plethora of left wingers.

I don't mind a flair player taking his chance from time to time. It's essential for their confidence and they can make something happen. But shooting from 25 meters in a tight angle when you have two teammates running in the box is a crap decision, no matter how you see it. And he made quite a lot of them. I don't think he'll be the man pulling the strings, he lacks the footballisctic brains for that, but with time his end produkt will improve and can become a good impact player either on the wing or maybe behind a striker.

filbertway Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 I wish someone would tell Morgan, Huth and Simpson they're allowed to pass it as well. 9/10 it's going back to Kasper to spank up the pitch or they just launch it no man's land themselves. Gray's one of our few players that's happy to take the ball and try and do something positive with it. Could have done with more composure on the chance that fell to him in the box, same with Shinji really. I can guarentee that if that fell to King and he missed the same chance, Thrac would be blaming it on the pressure around him and the fact he's rarely been in those positions recently haha. As many others have said, he has the potential to be a game changer the few times he gets the ball to feet and it's not smashed over his head and out for a throw in. The decision making will come with more experience of playing at this level. For now, let him be the exciting player he is. After putting up with Schlupp as a breakthrough player on the wing, it's a pleasure to have somebody who looks genuinely good at football.
