Gray, Selfish or not ?

Dangerous Yes. Clueless Yes. Tunnel vision. Lots of opportunity to put Vardy in but opted out and chose the wrong options.

Still raw and has a bit much of the Daniel Sturridge school of helping his team mates score. He will get better but I think he has  to work on his fitness levels. He could coast or he could become a very good player.

Yes too selfish today. 

 

First half Vardy totally unmarked and shoots from a poor angle.

 

I read somewhere that Vardy has scored 5 from 9 shots on target this season. Therein lies one problem for us - he's not getting the service he needs, and Gray was as culpable today as Mahrez has been previously. All the talent in the world still needs to be used i the correct way. 

 

The fact that the others are so shit means he has to be given a run of games though to see if he will learn the lesson.

He does tend to be greedy but he's only trying to create/score a goal. He's still a young lad with a lot to learn.

Selfish. Could of squared Vardy earlier today to put us 1 up yet he decided to shoot. Not the first time he's been greedy either.

One of the few players in our team who's got something about him. A bit selfish but at 20 that can be rectified. His decision making will improve. Must start in the coming games.

Gray is 20, he may have played 100 first team games but still has lots to learn.

He could have scored today with more composure,he could have an assist with better vision.

He has to play to get that experience.

Wasn't Redmond a predecessor at Brum? Demarai looked a better player and is a couple of years younger.

Quality player still learning though, if he plays Vardy in twice he has two great chances to score. This is what I've been saying about Vardy knowbody is playing him in.

DG totally splitting opinion here today.

Effort is everything, but incisive decisions are another.

If he'd have shown class today he would have passed at the right time to the right person.

I can understand his effort stood out for many, but Gray was so disappointing today.

Same reasons today why we weren't sad to see the back of Schlupp.

He might be selfish but he's the only player who looks like he wants to go forwards, do something, create something.

 

We didn't create much today but if it wasn't for him there would have been zero creation today.

 

I think the other players are scared of going forwards or something.

Finding Vardy or Okazaki in between 5 Southampton shirts requires the perfect pass.

When everything is going bad, players have a compounding tendency of trying to do it all themselves.

 

There was really only 1 pass he should be tried to find Vardy at the far post.

Has a bit of flair about him but that's a given for that type of player at this level, and then it all goes to waste because he's greedy. Had he played Vardy in today we could have been looking at a totally different result. Poor decision making like that is a serious weakness. He doesn't get a pass for just "looking lively". He's a flair player in the team solely to make things happen in an attacking sense, for a player like him looking lively is a basic requirement not an impressive attribute.

In the first half, there were two possible outcomes: run,take a shot, hope for a curly-worldy; lose possession.

 

He is playing alongside a phenomenal finisher.  Passing to Vardy should be something he sees as a possible positive.

 

If he does not become more aware, his progress will be limited.

He's played second fiddle to Mahrez for most of the season and probably knows as soon as he's back, he'll be straight in the team.

Eager to impress no doubt but his naivety was glaring today.

Didn't look up, had several chances to square or play the ball out wide and didn't.

Good couple of shots at goal too but neither threatening, really should be hitting the target at least.

 

He is still young, plenty of room for improvement and I do see a future star.

But part of me also worries he'll become overconfident and go the wrong way
