Gray, Selfish or not ?

Recommended Posts

I really don't get some fans! A few weeks ago we were all screaming for Gray to get some game time, now when he finally does people are on his back, he seemed like the only player on the pitch of actually tried to create things, he made things happen and yes he was a bit selfish at times but he created those opportunities! The one time Vardy received through ball he kicked it too far! Vardy is a shadow of what he was last season, he's the one who we should be saying to sell and make a tidy profit whilst we still can! Don't even get me started with Okazaki, he must have a thing for grass as he can't wait to get a closer look everytime he gets the ball!

From what I've seen in the last few games Grey is the only player we have that comes on and goes straight at the defenders!

He has pace and great close control of the ball.  He's always confident of beating his man and getting into the oppositions half.

Of course we'd like the finishing parts of his game to be more solid but that will come eventually with more game time.

He's still young and sometimes tries too hard but can we really blame him in our current predicament.

Kinda reminds me of a certain young Ronaldo at united always a few too many step overs and dribbles often shooting waywards.

Once fergie fine tuned him he became a formidable force of nature.  I say give him more game time, encourage him, coach him,

appreciate him. let him learn when its wise to go solo and when its wise to assist.

The only player who looked like creating anything and made promising attacking forward runs.

We didn't have a gilt edge goal scoring chance today but without Gray we wouldn't have even got close to creating anything.

Am I the only one to see that Gray is sooo selfish, and have a negative role in the team play ?

Absolute tosh

Who the **** was he supposed to pass to? The non existent colleagues?

No one helped him, let's blame our only forward thinking player, good idea.

He's 20 years old. You're writing the boy off already?

Gray has more talent and technical ability in his left bollock than half our squad.

Ronaldo was a selfish glory hunter at 20 but that was coached out of him (NOT saying Gray will be as good as CR7) but that young players need guidance and patience

Chilwell have been skinned many times by a wingers and been exposed positionally a few times, do you wanna move him on as well?

Gray didn't come through our academy and isn't Levi Porter or Alan Sheehan so Thracian doesn't rate him

At 0-0 if Gray crosses to Vardy that game might have been very different.

He was our only creative force but his final ball/ decision making is way off at the minute.

He's greedy but if he does learn when to pass and when to shoot he'll be class whereas Okazaki is atrocious at threading simple through balls through. Infuriating the amount of times he's ballsed up basic passes.

Exactly this. We would have been up in arms about Gray and asking why he didn't take his player on if he'd screwed up the through ball for Vardy that Shinji did. I was happy to see at least someone have a go and try to make something happen during yesterday's shambles. To be fair, Vardy miscontrolled almost everything that came his way anyway. Gray is a top talent, great ability to beat a man - he could improve by mixing things up and maybe passing once in a while but at the moment he's our best chance of scoring.

There was no way that anyone other than Gray was going to score today. Everyone else just looked flat.

At the moment it seems like 9/10 times he is making the wrong decision, but at least he's asking the questions.

So to not start our main goal scoring AND creative threat, would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

If Gray gets dropped for Derby then there's not much point watching. He may be greedy, but at least he has the balls to run at players and take a shot. I'm wondering why our 100k a week striker can't do this.

Yeah just keep giving it for him to not pass to create a goal instead blast it over every time we will really win that way!

IF Gray is dropped and Morgan isn't i might just stop supporting this season. He was a little greedy but the best of a very bad bunch.

IF gray wasn't on the pitch you know would anyone else of been a slight attacking threat?

Honestly, yes. At least he is getting into situations where he COULD create a goal - what did anyone else create yesterday? Okazaki had a simple pass and ****ed it up, Vardy obviously thinks he is above grafting and creating chances, Albrighton is a one trick pony, midfield doesn't create anything. Bleh.

Do I think he's too selfish at times,  yes I do. Does it bother me,  no it doesn't. He's a very young player who despite the mistakes appears to be working hard and trying his best (that can't be said about all his team mates ). Ranieri, the coaching staff, or even his own retrospective viewing of the match and his performance, if he does that, will provide him with the information he needs to improve. He stylishly got round a Premiership defence yesterday and albeit he's not the finished article in football terms he's still he's still a kid and needs our encouragement. let's not kill him with criticism as he's the potential to be a future senior England player.

Yeah, because Gray didn't pass to anyone when he could have. Multiple times.

How is he our main goal scoring threat? Did Gray even have a shot on target? Okay, I checked, and yes, he and Ndidi did, each 1 shot OT. But to call him our main goal scoring threat (even if just for now until Mahrez and Slim get back) is ridiculous. He has scored 1 PL goal.

I have said it before until he learns to get his head up and stops trying to lets say 'a mahrez' he is no better than anyone else we have. It doesnt matter that he beats a few players on the wing he has to get his head up and pass. Yesterday we was probably a 6/10 but could of been easily a 8/10 if he produced a final ball - but he didnt he was greedy and selfish on more than one occassion. When we broke away and he decided to go on his own was shocking Vardy was basically standing on his own. If that was Musa or Albrighton that had done that they would have been ripped to shreads on here but Gray wont be there are too many fan boys that think he is better than he is. Worse final ball and desision making than Aaron Lennon and thats saying something.

If we do go to 4-4-2 he cannot play offers little to nothing going backwards either.

This is a tough one. Gray and Kasper seem the only two who have bought last seasons work ethic with them.

If you look at the stats he has 5 shots and 1 on target. The next man was Ndidi who had 2 shots 0 on target. Our main strike force has 0 shots

He had one of the highest pass accuracies at 66.7%

He wont 5 Ariel balls second highest in the game

seems to me that he is one of few who actually did something in that game, call him selfish, but then if he creates a chance out of nothing he deserves the shot

Posted

Too selfish for me and if he wants more starts he's not helping himself by denying Vardy a sitter after sprinting over half the pitch to get in a great unmarked position.

That's because he didn't want to pass to absolute duffers who were disgracing themselves again.

Honestly, I bet the thought of passing to any of them made him weep inside.

Oh behave yer lets just have a team of Albrightons who cant beat a man has hardly any control of the football and just hofs it every time they get it

I think he has a right to have a go as much as anyone else, especially when he was putting the effort in to get himself there. Drinky puts a lot of pot shots in that are mostly a waste as well so Gray isn't alone. As long as it doesn't become a trend and costs us goals I'm okay with some "selfishness".

Posted

I can only think of one occasion yesterday where he should have crossed to Vardy at the back post rather than having a shot.

His decison making and final ball definitely needs improvement but that can come with coaching and experience. What he has is natural pace and skill combined with confidence and a good work rate. All things you can't coach.

Think he'll be a top player for us. Get off his back.

Oh no a player actually trying something other than an aimless hoof up to Vardy! Good on the lad I say, at least he's got the confidence to try and play something that resembles football
