Pundits

I like Graham Souness, he's realistic and not promoting his brand, unlike the majority of others.

Peter Drury as a commentator, for me, is the best.

Robbie Savage, now there's somebody that I don't understand as a 'pundit'.

John Terry done him up nice that time.

Paul Merson is one of the worst, completely dismisses Silva could be a decent manager at Hull purely becaue he's not English and not managed in England and doesnt give any other insight whatsoever into his rationale.

Neville and Carragher are the best and then probably Souness. I've heard Neville say before he thinks Souness is good.

Yesterday I watched a bit of that BT Score and saw Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage spend 3 hours or so just bickering and almost getting to the verge of fighting. This wasn't because they disagreed on a particular subject, they just clearly don't like each other and couldn't be professional enough to keep it off live TV. Totally pathetic.

Those two are awful pundits anyway, as are Danny Mills, Ruud Gullit, and Niall Quinn. Not a massive fan of Souness either. Neville, Carragher and Shearer are probably the best three.

As for commentators, Iain Darke is by far the worst.

Pundits wise I can tolerate most of the recent ex-players like Thierry Henry and Gary Neville. Not so recent but Ian Wright is always entertaining and agree with most of what he says. He was one of the very few who backed Vardy in our first season back in the Premier League. Scholes is alright too.

Savage I used to tolerate - since Friday night though he was ridiculously idiotic and got over-excited; wouldn't be surprised if he'd had a few before starting.

A lot of the BT Sport co-commentators I hate listening too - Owen, McManaman, Hargreaves. The former 2 are unbearable when Liverpool are playing. Is the head of BT Sport a Liverpool fan? Michael Owen, Steve McManaman, David James and Steven Gerrard now all part of the football line-up.

Don't like Jermaine Jenas, Danny Murphy, Lawro when they're on BBC. Totally boring.

Why must pundits be ex pros? Are ex pros more knowledge about football than people who haven't played it professionally? Is Paul Merton more knowledgeable aboit the actual game itself than Tim Vickery?

I generally don't care but Merson's mispronounciation of simple foreign names just is not funny any more. How hard is it to pronounce Slimani and Okazaki?

I think they make some great points personally. Always think Shearer says it how he sees it. Murphy is usually worth a listen. Neville is a good pundit.

Dont like Savage as a pundit very much, nor Gullit

Yeah Murphy has improved a lot recently. And Gullit is woeful, you always know it's been a shite round of games when they get him on MOTD.

The ones I like are

Neville

Murphy

Carragher

Le Saux

Danny Higginbotham  (very underrated pundit.  His tactical analysis is great and he doesn't just spout clichés. He actually understands the gane). I like him a lot.

I was watching Liverpool v Wolves and afterwards the only thing they had to say about Wolves was "they had a game plan and stuck to it". Seriously, that was all Wolves got.

McManaman at one point said something like 'the referee has let Liverpool down there' (can't remember what incident but it wasn't like a blatant foul or controversial call) as if he has an obligation to give Liverpool what they want/require to get through.

I'm so bored of Merson tbh. He's overdoing it at the moment.

it did make me laugh in the previous round of the FA Cup he predicted Everton, Bournemouth and one other team to possibly win the cup. They all got knocked out in that round lol

McManaman was giving Plymotuh, a League 2 side, grief for going to Amfield and parking the bus.

****ing hate Mcmannaman and the rest of the BT ones too. Remember when we played Liverpool away it was just a scouse love in and such a biased commentary.

Five live has some decent pundits. Although at times I don't like Chris Suttton.

For me, I think Sky have a great team on the whole. Particularly Neville and Carragher, they genuinely know their stuff and can have a laugh while always appearing professional.

However Merson on soccer Saturday this season has been doing my head in. The guy literally talks out of his backside most weeks. Like someone above allluded to, the way the bloke can't pronounce basic foreign names hasn't been funny for a while, it's almost as though he's doing it on purpose. If he's not then I question his basic intellectual ability. How difficult is Okazaki really?

Shearer on the BBC is good.

BT punditry......well, I'd struggle to call it punditry.

Peter Beagrie, Garth Crooks, Glenn Hoddle and Danny Mills. That's your axis of evil right there.

I'm not keen pundits they bung on who've won nothing, like Danny Mills. Act like experts.

Why would I want to listen to Gary Neville talk about a relegation battle?

And Paul Ince won a bit and he's a terrible pundit.

Shearer and Murphy are good. Rate them both on MOTD.

I don't think I've ever listened to pre or post match punditry, the matches are often dull affairs the last thing I want to do with my time is to listen to it being analyzed.

Gotta agree with this.

Like I thought I would, I'm having a job listening to Neville with the same reverance that I had before. Particularly as you say, when he starts talking the management of failing sides.

Add Don Goodman to that as well actually.
