Rigga Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Ranieri wanted to sign him before Walsh bullied him to sign Kante.. Signs him 2nd time round and has always had a reluctance to start him and today wasn't even in the 18?? What did he see in Mendy in the 1st place ? Dont rate him myself but just my opinion
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 He should be playing ahead of Drinkwater at the moment, that's for sure.
Rigga Posted 5 February 2017 Author Posted 5 February 2017 It's the thinking of Ranieri that I can't grasp.. if he can't get in that shower of shite 18 then there's no hope for him
oxtonfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 He helped him out at Monaco on the principle that you get what you know he brought him in. Problem is that French Ligue 2 and 1 is way short of Premier League. I think he could be a decent player but trying to success when the pitch for us is like a metal platform 60 degrees from vertical and everyone's sliding to the bottom is not easy.
Babylon Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 I was hoping he wanted to change our system and style, clearly not though. Having said that, he has been fine. No worse and no better than anyone else has been.
lcfcben76 Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 I was hoping for a N'didi/Mendy partnership today but never came
TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 All signings of the Ranieri era have never been out and out starters, mendy just joins the list.
brookfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Not writing him off but his not making the bench is another sign of the almighty cock up we made on our summer signings. Musa looks very out his depth, Zieler an inadequate deputy, Mindy<King based on today, Kaputska.....?!, Hernandez gone and Slimani good but overpaid. Even if Ranieri stays would you trust him to not repeat things this summer?!
cropstonfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 That's why the owners tied his hands in January.mendy another very poor player
STUHILL Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Just now, cropstonfox said: That's why the owners tied his hands in January.mendy another very poor player We don't really know that though do we? He hasn't been played or given anywhere near enough of a chance. Just another signing Claudio has made, that he refuses to give enough game time to settle in and maybe become a decent player for us.
Rigga Posted 5 February 2017 Author Posted 5 February 2017 Ndidi has something but we can not rely on a 20 year old. But the other £70m spent on Slimani,Mendy,Kaputska,Zieler,Musa and Hernandez....Dreadful

If he was any good he would be Starting .he is worst than inler and he was was shocking.its obvious the signings are worse. Than the back up players from last year so as a squad we are worse.

Surrounded by another 10 players not actually performing. There isn't a single new signing who has actually been put in a position to succeed because the whole team is performing woefully, with a non existent game plan.
Rigga Posted 5 February 2017 Author Posted 5 February 2017 In the summer we had potential pulling power due to our status as Champions. We needed 3/4 genuine world class players that enhance our starting XI rather than the squad....We missed that opportunity bigtime

Mendy played 74 times for Monaco and 110 times for Nice and he is still only 24. He has played 4 times for us.. That is just not enough to decide if he is going to be good or not. ..And actually, he did pretty well in a couple of those games too. I've lost faith in Claudio's ability to know what a good player is at the moment. I would like to see Mendy and Benny be played a lot more, so we can judge for ourselves. It's not like we are winning every week and so there is no justification to try other players!

We should have spent way over our budget, just to land some of these top players, while we had this very slim window of opportunity and pulling power! We could have then afforded a number of quieter windows, with spending less. This could have pushed us on to a consistent higher level and broken us away from our lower league/ yoyo club norm. Real opportunity missed, and likely we will never get a better chance to sign the types of players that would have considered us in the summer.
cropstonfox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 OK .he looks out of his depth in the premier league A lot like CR!

Ian Nacho Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 We've not really seen enough of him to comment on really.
peterborofox Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Not actually noticed him on the pitch at all. Doesn't seem to do much Similar to King and probably less effective when I've seen him play
Kitchandro Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 I don't think Mendy is shit, I just don't understand why we signed him. He doesn't seem to fulfill a specific role in order to make an impact.
Ted Maul Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 Drinkwater shouldn't be starting the next few games, that's for sure- hopelessly out of form. If he can't get in the side now, there's no point in him being here.
