Jock's Hill Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 It will be all change on the managerial front for Monday and everyone wants the back four changing, quite rightly. But, what serious changes can we make? Is Benalouane really any better than Huth or Morgan? Should Amartey replace Simpson or Chilwell replace Fuchs? Would Wague be any better? Should Ndidi play centre-back? I'm not convinced we have replacement players for the current back four and maybe they know that. Someone needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat in terms of finding a square player in a square hole without weakening the rest of the team. I'm disappointed that Ranieri didn't try Amartey at centre-back after he played there for Ghana. Trouble is Claudio's mistake was being too loyal.
lgfualol Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 If they drop Morgan then I want them in the job for life.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Lets just see what happens now Ranieri has gone. We could find that we suddenly actually start moving for the ball and giving them easy options to pass to. If we don't then we know the players are shit and we need changes.
Ric Flair Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 One of Huth and Morgan has to be dropped. Either Benalouane or Amartey gets a chance there. Fuchs I believe will regain his form as he was very good at times in the first half of the season. Simpson is distinctly average and I'd like to see Albrighton converted to an attacking right back but that then leads to all sorts of condundrums with the midfield.
StanSP Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Benalouane probably isn't better than Huth or Morgan but the latter 2 are so bad that maybe trying something different in the league might work. Fuchs has under-performed pretty much all season. I don't see the harm in trying Chilwell out for a considerable run of games. Also wouldn't be averse to Amartey starting at centre-back. I often feel Simpson is made to look bad because of the mopping up he sometimes has to do for Huth and Morgan. Wague is out of the question because of his dislocated shoulder.
Aus Fox Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Got to be Amartey in for Simpson as the first order of business
whetstonefox Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 I imagine it'll be the same back 4 for Monday, who knows they may look like decent defenders again...he says not really believing it!
foxy boxing Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 we can't keep going with the Dad's army defence anyone can see that! we need to bring in younger more mobile defenders with some experience. it looks pretty bad management that the back four were all allowed to age together without slowly bringing in younger replacements and only having Wazilewski as backup.
Max Power Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Huth is finished as a footballer. He can't move. He was even getting beaten in the air on Wednesday. Benalouane for him is a must.
daddylonglegs Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Benni et al cannot do any worse. They really can't.
Kaewbudda Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Amartey and Benalouane for me. I'd even try Amartey and Ndidi, as Ndidi is superb in the air. Huth and Morgan don't have any confidence on the ball and are too slow now
filbertway Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 Will be interesting to see how the team's philosophy changes, if we don't change our tactics or line up then nothing will change. If the new manager/Shakey sends the team out with more attacking and pressing intent then it would be no surprise to see the same players look better.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 February 2017 Posted 24 February 2017 It's even more of a shame that we didn't even manage a replay against Millwall, as that would have been a perfect opportunity for the new man to try Amartey-Benny, Benny-Wague or any other combination that isn't Morgan-Huth. I imagine there'll be changes though, a fresh pair of eyes coming in can't fail to spot the weaknesses. I only hope it's somebody who champions youth, because we've some seriously talented young players who deserve a shot.
