Is there a definitive explanation of what a buy back clause actually means as it confuses the hell out of me. I get its not a loan and it's more like a sale with strings. I also realise that for example, Real Madrid sold Morata fairly cheap, watched him develop, bought him back under a clause and will no doubt in today's market make a killing but...

Let's say we buy Iheanacho for  £25M with a £30M buy back clause on a 3yrs contract.

1. If at any time we want to sell him, Man City effectively have first dibs at 30M?

2. Or, if he does exceptionally well,  can they just buy him back at any time they like even after 1 season?

3. What if after 2yrs, he's doing exceptionally well and we are too, he wants to stay with us, we want to keep him, can we offer him a new deal and he sign it?

I'm probably just thick.

The general gist is that Man City can activate a clause in a contract that would force us to sell him to them at the agreed price (within the normal transfer windows). Then it's down to whether the player wants to move or not.

What I'm not sure about is if they try to buy him back and he refuses - if they can come back in 6 or 12 months later and try again.

I'm sure it's nothing to be excited about but the Helicopter has just landed at the training ground

As i literally live over the road from the training ground i can confirm this is true.

Helicopter has gone again now.

Thanks. Apologies I missed that but rather annoyingly I had to do some work today and are only just catching up.  Once Kante's Mini is sent to the car-wash we can assume deal done.

Kelechi Iheanacho imminent transfer to Leicester City from Manchester City wouldn’t have been possible if not for the intervention of his Nigeria national team close friend Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi and Iheanacho are very close right from when their path first crossed in the camp of the Nigeria U17 team in 2013, before circumstances ruled Ndidi ‎out of the tournament while Iheanacho went on to become the star of the Championship.

However the duo were were once again back to their friendship of old at the camp of the Nigeria U-20 team in 2014, a bond which they maintained even when they made the step up to the senior national team of Nigeria.

A West Ham source said Iheanacho’s eagerness to be close to Ndidi was the trump card for the Foxes, who were able to complete the deal for the striker ahead of the Hammers who have been on his trail for six weeks.

Bloke who's usually a good contact for me has said 'could well see this happening'.

He's got them wrong before re Ramirez, however he did say that rested on Bojan going to Boro, and Berahino going to Stoke (only one of those didn't happen and the dominos didn't fall into place).

Having Amartey, Ndidi and Musa here already will certainly help as he's good pals with Wilf and Moose.
