That and the calls to stop rampant tree cutting are definitely positive steps! When looking up the article, as I can't access the S*n at work, I happened to come across his Wiki page; what on earth is that picture about? Flashbacks of the Demon Headmaster as a youth.

Never thought I'd see the day. Maybe he's finally found his calling? Only hope he can keep it up!

Wilko warns nearly 4,000 staff could lose jobs

Follows hot on the heels of major supermarket chains

The irony of someone advocating the labour £10/hr minimum posting job losses where the main reason given is the living wage increases shouldn't be lost on anyone.

I knew that was coming. It isn't the reason asda or the others gave. But that's okay, you point elsewhere while jobs go under your choice of government.

Asda gave the reason along the lines of we have too many staff for the money the store is taking. Not quite sure how that one is a tory fault tbh.

What were the reasons the others gave?

7So creation of jobs = down to the tories but

Loss of jobs is not?

Supermarkets cutting staff due to customers moving to budget -lidl and aldi - stores. Customers are doing that because their wages are worth less and less and they are getting into more and more debt.

Interestingly, lidl pay well above their competitors and still manage to sell cheaper products.

People only shop at Lidl because their wages are worth less? Really? Also more people are shopping online.

This just in, when 2 options are given, the majority of people will take the cheaper one.

In other news, grass is green and the sky is blue.

More thrilling revelations soon!

Maybe people have just realised there is barely any difference in the standard and decide to spend less? Spending on luxury items isn't down.

I have a friend who works in food supply and the factories in Germany often produce the same stuff that goes to Lidl and M&S, just pay more at the latter.

Hate to be a pedant (honest!) but for the 12 weeks up to and including 16/07/17, the market share of the "Big Four" was 68.9%

Tesco = 27.8%

Sainsbury's = 16%

Asda = 15.1%

Morrisons = 10.5%

Aldi = 7%

Lidl = 5.1%

Aldi, Lidl etc. have caught up considerably over the past few years - but the "majority" of people still don't yet shop with them.

You try online shopping at lidl and see how fdar you get.

Aldi and lidl hsve increased  their market share by over 80% in the last four years after seeing only tiny rises over years and years. The idea that this has nothing to do with squeezed incomes - when we know income and debt are significantly squeezing households - is ludicrous.

As the tory cavalry are out in force perhaps they can give us the right wing interepation of how this isn't the government's fault? Im actually more interested in the bits of the article that don't relate to the headline.

Bloke who wants to borrow 500billion to invest and run an unlimited budget deficit now shows concern for the exchange rate.

I meant people can shop online at tescos,asda,sainsburys,morrisons etc, obviously the shops are going to see less business.

Aldis have been in the UK since 1990, why did people shop there then?
