One step closer to every game being shown live and no one going to the football anymore.

We have that available in the prem now, albeit not exactly legally and the KP is still pretty full.

They need to do something, the fact they have nothing to compete with Midweek Champions League games is ridiculous.

It's one of the reasons they've had to start charging channel by channel because they haven't got the content to justify the previous monthly cost.

If I was living in Leicester I would prefer to go to the game rather than stream to my PC.

Same although I do live in Leicestershire. If I could get a season ticket I would go every week, I can't because it's sold out.

Thoughts then?

I think it's shocking, yet again fans put last.

How so? People that wouldn't get to see their teams normally now get to watch them instead of listening to a sucky radio commentary.

Yeah I don't get it either. Thousands of people are locked out from watching their own football team every week and have to settle for whoever sky decide is teams they should watch. We wonder why local kids grow up with Manchester United or Chelsea tops on and then dismiss this as killing football lol. Moronic.

I'd rather they did this for the Premier League where ticket demands will ensure big crowds regardless.

A legal streaming service is a good thing, in my opinion, if it's handled appropriately.

This is the trial for every game live

premier league will be full gates

its a tourist attraction these days and the tourists will pack the games

I fear for lower down the league , I think we will have just 50-60 full time clubs in next 20 years

The money in the game will mean we'll see more full time clubs but with less people following them IMO.

There's loads of full time clubs that are struggling now. The conference is sadly made up of them... Tranmere, Torquay, Hartlepool, Dagenham, Orient (thought the last two have started well at least in the league).

I know they are right now but I can only see them getting more money over time. I think the Premier League deal and things like this TV deal will only see money filter through. Won't happen over night though.

Of course wages will also increase.

Having spoken to a few people involved with clubs lower down the pyramid (those who have no coverage at all), they say the ease of watching Champions League football is more of a barrier on getting people to midweek games.

Midweek games are a red herring anyway. The crowds are way, way up on what they used to be for midweek games. However they are of course poorer supported than a Saturday game. There's a few reasons for this; for starters the EFL already schedule long-distance games on midweek because the clubs want bigger crowds at the weekend. For example, Exeter will always bring a low number of fans to Carlisle regardless of day. However, Morecambe would bring more to Carlisle on a Saturday than a midweek fixture. There are other reasons of course - the difficulty of travelling midweek, work for some and children generally problematic to go midweek games. Therefore crowds are already low and away numbers crap.

It should be a trial. It might affect attendances or it might not at all. The offset of lost numbers might be made up by the TV money. The target for this streaming is people who can't make it rather than people who already go. For example, on a midweek game what percentage of the stadium is season ticket holders? I should imagine very high - doesn't affect the clubs then if they miss a game. It might affect away attendances but I have already mentioned how difficult it is to make midweek games.

Nearly all of those clubs you've mentioned have been owned by idiots or they have overspent. They are in the Conference for a reason. They are struggling for a reason. They are not struggling because of the Premier League deal.

Similarly there are clubs like Burton, Barnet, Accrington and Rochdale what continually overpunch their weight. They don't overspend, they don't rely on sugar-daddies. It's not TV money or external decisions what's got them to their position.

Every sport in America is available to watch on a Game Pass service, live game attendances there are pretty big.

Difference there is that the game is blacked out if you're within a certain distance of the stadium. If the game sells out then that blackout is lifted I believe.

Money isn't filtering though ... it's going on agents and wages mostly

shockingly very few premier league clubs are turning a decent profit
