It's like a negotiating Germany v San Marino Yeah, we've been absolutely schooled since we started trying to do business with bigger clubs. Their backroom staff have years of experience at the top level, whereas we've got our old academy manager from when we were in League 1 in charge.
Nigel Graham Pearson Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 It’s my understanding that Rudkin fought hard to negotiate a sell-on clause in Kante’s contract which mandates that we pay 10% of any future transfer fees for him.

dannythefox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 No way are we intelligent enough to do that.

But the max it will have been if we have is probably 20% £18 million will probably only fund half a player next season..... And with any transfer probably being split over a few years.... it's pretty pointless to worry about the affect it could have on us. Half a shit one maybe
cambridgefox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 I hope so . Peterborough Utd always have them and if a small club like that can always manage it.we should be able to fathom if out. Barry Fry is quite shrewd there.

Isn't it 20% of the profit not the actual fee, so £12m rather than £18m?

Either way it's at least 10% or so of the TV money that we receive, so somewhat larger than 'look after the pennies and the pounds ....'. Amazed at how many on here think we shouldn't be bothered about 12, 18 or even 20 million.

I certainly don't think we shouldn't be bothered about it, I just think in the grand scheme of things and considering it wouldn't really affect our spending budget, it's probably not worth getting too upset over receiving £12 million quid split over three or four years....

Yep Silva’s wages and the legal costs accrued on this matter thus far are a mere fraction of our recruitment outlay. In all cases money well spent?
