If the core of the team could then I’d have hoped we’d have taken more than 3 points from Palace, Stoke, Bournemouth, and Newcastle.

Yeah but there are still less gifted in the lot.

I have been trying to give Puel the benefit of the doubt, hoping that we are seeing a transitional phase. Unfortunately, the performances are providing little room for optimism.

As many have already said we are slow in possession and look devoid of attacking threat.

My real concern is that the playing style is getting further away from the identity of Leicester City as a hardworking, difficult team to play against.

I think Puel is trying unsuccessfully to impose his own identity on to a Leicester squad that doesn't suit a slow possession based game. Another transfer window for Puel is likely to take us further away from the blood and guts performances that epitomise great Leicester teams and further towards a slow possession based side.

Big decisions to be made in the summer, even if on the surface our leave position looks okay. Decision which our owners will not shy away from.

History may repeat itself for Puel.

I won't slag Puel but I don't understand why we start home games like we are away. Second half we looked like we wanted it.

First half all we wanted to do was contain them.

Really if with no disrespect we can't deal with them we need to give up.

This is what concerns me about 'giving him the summer'.

Surely if our players aren’t technically gifted enough to play the style of football he wants then any competent coach would stop trying to make them play that way?

Maybe the owners brought him in because they want a transformation into a team that doesnt have Morgan pulling the strings with hoofs.

Best get someone in who has the bollocks to stand up to him/drop him then.

You have a point. Puel needs to sort that out.  I get the impression Morgan would have a ****ing fit if questioned though, if the whole "if you replace me I will leave" threat is anything to go by.

Awful, he's made the King Power an easy place to come and take points from. Little attacking intent or tempo. Saints fans were right, he can't set up a team to play attacking football at home. If this carries on we'll be in trouble next season. Starting to turn on Puel now, big questions over him.

"Starting" to turn on Puel lollol

You never gave him a chance from the start mate.

Last week there was a clown on here @Donut calling everyone on here a penis if they doubted Puel.

Did you watch that clueless crap today?.if not it was the same as the last four home games, dire!

No. In a post to someone else, i indirectly referenced another person and labelled him as a penis for the opinion he held.

I didnt call everyone a penis.

And yep, today wasnt very good. No argument from me on that one.

Doesnt mean Puel out though for me.

You said they were laughing tbf, or loving it, whatever you said, obviously a somewhat ridiculous statement given where they were when he left and where they are now. I’m sure they’d take the odd indifferent home result to being relegated.

Only people who read the (admittedly poorly worded) title and ignored the rest of the post thought that's what my point was.

What I said is that they'd be laughing at the irony of the situation; we all criticised them for sacking Puel when he finished in 8th with them. "How can they be unhappy with 8th" we all said. Yet funnily enough, that's what a lot of people are doing now, and lo and behold, we're also in 8th. The situations are very similar. Simply looking at the table, 8th seems great, but the table doesn't really show the full picture.

Never once said that Southampton fans would rather be in their current position. Bit of a straw man argument, that.  Anyway, like I said before, Saints fans were right. We're playing turgid, boring football at home, against teams with far inferior quality.

The timing of it was ridiculous. Writing a manager off before they even start is ridiculous.

The first 5-8 games he made those remarks from saints fans look utterly stupid, he was expansive and played exciting football. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but for fans to make those judgements at the start was silly, horses for courses.

Before they even start? This was a few weeks ago.

It's been clear for a while the direction that we've been heading in. The longer Puel's been in charge, the worse the football has gotten.

Its a common theme with Puel as Southampton couldn't win at home either, they didn't even score a goal in their last five home games with Puel in charge. So he's had a long time to sort home form out under his management but seems to be none the wiser.

I read the thread it was rather embarrassing and you edited the op about five times I’m amazed you even hint at bringing it up, but there we are.

Yes we are, but we are picking up points on the road though and we are eight.

I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of a lot of the decisions he has made. Sometimes you have to be happy with what you’ve got or at least think about the alternative rather carefully. This get to the top half of the prem and then complain about the brand of football you play has been the pit fall of so many clubs dating all they way back to curbishly getting the boot at charlton to West Brom with pulis this season. The grass is unfortunately very far from greener as I’m sure saints fans will also tell you.

He gets till the end of the season for me at least, he’s earned that, he was bought in to turn us around and keep us up and he has pissed that, in the mean time if we want to think about replacing him the board should thinking how we want to play without Maherz and either leave Puel in charge or bring in a well thought out replacement.
