I don't know if this has been raised before but why do certain clubs change their shirts for away games when they don't need to?  Last night Southampton played in their horrible green strip against Swansea, who play in white.  And Arsenal do it all the time.  Is it something to do with the shirt sponsors?  I'm really glad that City play in blue whenever they can

I presume its because their home socks clash with Swansea's and their away socks would have looked ridiculous with their home kit. I'm pretty sure the rules are clear that none of the kit must clash.

Pretty sure they are meant to play each of their kits X number of times for contractual reasons.

If Nike put loads of effort in to a bespoke Barca away kit, they're going to want to see it worn even when there aren't clashes.

lol  Yeah. I got it. I just thought the tone of your post was very funny. "Read this people," like you'd unearthed a shady government conspiracy or something, when in actual fact it was regarding something so inconsequential it doesn't deserve a moment's thought.

I believe it is to do with guidelines put in place to assist visually impaired or colourblind people enjoy the game.

I’m sure I saw the actual details of this posted on this forum at the start of the season - essentially, it’s about teams playing in different tones, like the example here where one team plays in a light tone (such as White) and the other team plays in a dark tone (such as green).

This will also happen at the World Cup in the summer and is why ‘plain design’ kits are being insisted on by FIFA within their permitted designs.

So there you go... it is NOT, repeat NOT to do with a kit company insisting a certain design is used a certain number of times.

I knew it would have been FIFA interfering last time I saw Brazil play. They were wearing yellow shirts, white shorts and white socks. It looked totally wrong and I knew it wouldn't have been Brazil's decision to do that.

Yes... but at least this is not for a completely bullshit reason.

Absolutely. It's a great idea if it helps those with impaired vision.
