Ndukwu looks like he has ability. He’s been here a while so surprised he hasn’t been talked about much before although, I confess, I don’t follow players outside the first team as closely as others.

We’re sort of agreeing on MA. I just feel that the problem isn’t with Albrighton, but our failure to recruit better or, indeed, get better performances out of the players already here. Until others can regularly and consistently show the talent they’re supposed to have - he still starts for me.

But I fully understand his limitations.

He's been here awhile, but even when he makes the sub list he has only appeared for short stretches if memory serves. Certainly last season I didn't see him play much if at all, and I was keen with his rep from the 23s.

And we def agree with MA, and probably DG to a large extent. MA almost certainly gives us more all the way around than DG does in a match, I get that, but I want players on the wings who can do several things in the attack, including beat players 1-on-1. They don't need to do that all the time, it's a rather low level way of attacking in a league like the Prem, but I want the defense to respect left right and middle to spread them out so our lads can have more room to work. Like when Slim used to come on -- he couldn't finish for s**t that first season, but suddenly when we added another legit threat to the field, the defense would loosen up bc they couldn't shade an extra man towards Mahrez and bracket Vardy, they had to account for Slim and we would suddenly see scoring opportunities where we hadn't all game. Same idea, diff position is all.

The problem is, even tho now we are keen to throw our FBs fwd, IDK how seriously teams will take Chilwell as a threat. If we go Gray and RP at RB, MA and Chilly on the left, that is an overload on the R but not much actual attacking chops on the left. Imo anyway, I haven't seen anything from Chilwell but a lad comfortable on the ball. Not much of an attacker, doesn't find ways to be dangerous with the ball, but sure, him and Harry can bring it out the back for us so long as they don't have to make something happen. RP, now he looks a likely lad with the ball at his feet and I haven't seen him much at all. More like him please.

I'm a bit surprised by the positivity on here. While I'm sure the minutes for youngsters will give them a boost, I didn't think there was much quality or intensity to the game and felt the players couldn't have got too much out of the experience. Our defence looked fairly terrible, there was very little understanding between full backs and wingers and we didn't create much. We played ourselves into trouble a lot and tended to rush things the moment we approached the final third. I can only assume we were appalling in the previous friendly, which I didn't see, if people are feeling upbeat about that.

I should add that, yes, I know it's only a friendly. I don't tend to read much into these games and in the past I've probably been one of the more positive posters after lacklustre pre-season games but, even so, I wasn't encouraged by last night.

Your assessment of chilly is correct. . But surely he and his personal coach must be aware of his failings.. eg he rarely delivers the ball in early. .. and they should be working on these issues so he becomes a better player and eradicate these shortcomings... tell me i am not dreaming

Really was hoping BC would progress but on last nights display I now know that he can't pass, defend or cross. However he did run quickly. I realistically know he is young but i very much doubt he will ever be prem quality. Am afraid I would rather stick with CF.

Yes, I agree on Chilly as well.

He’s comfortable on the ball, but seems to lose all confidence as he approaches the final third. Quite often not even attempting a cross, but just looking to offload and give someone else the responsibility. It’s a shame because he takes us some great positions.

At least Fuchs can whip a ball into the box but, without BCs pace, has far less opportunity to take us those positions where he could hurt. That's currently the left back dilemma in an attacking sense.

From what I've seen, he has an excellent first touch and is very comfortable on the ball and obviously quick and drives forward well.

Apart from that, he really does lack in all the other departments, especially to the level required in the Prem. He can't really cross, his defending is suspect and his positioning isn't great either.

It's certainly a concern but I think Puel has a lot of faith in him and I can't see any LB's coming in this window. Fuchs is a useful player but won't start ahead of him.

My only hope is, as some people are suggesting, he is very much a confidence player, and he will improve those areas drastically over the duration of the season. Otherwise, that left side is going to be a real weak link for us, especially if Gray or Diabate are in front of him.

It seems every manager/coach loves Chilwell from our Club to the England setup to managers like Klopp. Coaches/Managers who get paid a lot more than us see something special in him so im just gonna ride it, trust them and hope he really turns out to be a great player for us.

I did have this thought as well, and he even got rave reviews out on loan too, so there is certainly something there.

Needs to improve quickly this season though, in all areas, as with Fuchs gone next Summer, we will be in the market for a LB, and it could be a starting one if Chilwell doesn't take his chance this season and really shine.
