samlcfc1 Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 elvis hammond and iain hume are both better than mark de vries and probably in the air to. so levien must be playin de vries for his height but why wen he cant win any headers. where as o'grady has hight pace and a good finish he's scored a few for rushden so lets bring him back and see how it goes anyone agree?
Louise Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 O'Grady has scored 2 in 14 in League Two. de Vries has scored 6 in 16 in the Championship. Why do you think O'Grady is any better just because he's 'tall'? Or, is that you Chris? Edited because Mr C is clever

Sam, you've raised a good general point. We need more strikers in the squad at the moment. We had two-up front, but only one on the bench on Tuesday night. Whether its O'Grady, Wright, Chambers, Dodds, Graham or Mr Loan, having just one attacking player to bring on seriously limits the options when we got 1-0 down to defensive-minded teams like Burnley. CL - if you're not going to pick Chambers, get someone else in the 16. And NOT Dublin up front.
samlcfc1 Posted 20 October 2005 Author Posted 20 October 2005 anyone could have scored the goals he has he is just lucky
filbertway Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 anyone could have scored the goals he has he is just lucky Hardly, every goal has been a gem, beautifully crafted with his pace vision and shooting ability

Why can't people get the message - Craig Levein does not play Mark DeVries for his height - period. Talk about stereotypes – Denis Law was the best header of a football I ever saw not particularly power wise but getting up to it, placing it, accuracy and scoribg from them and he was only 5ft 9†– Hume has the makings of being a great header of the ball, just because a guys lanky doesn’t mean he’s any good at heading. If you are going to criticise the guy criticise the areas he supposed to be good at. By the way No!
Guest Gist Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 I would like to see him back as i think he has potential but if levein aint gonna play him anyway he may aswell stay on loan
frenchy_lcfc Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 I would like to see him back as i think he has potential but if levein aint gonna play him anyway he may aswell stay on loan True!!!
Mark Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 Tommy Wright is scoring more in a League above him. I don't think he's going to get another chance with us so i see no point in bringing O'Grady back instead. We are desperate but i don't think either will help. Hume and Hammond as a partnership on the other hand, may do.
Gené and Tonic Posted 20 October 2005 Posted 20 October 2005 What about James Graham or Lewis Dodds? Haven't heard anything about them for a while now.

BenFilbert Posted 21 October 2005 Posted 21 October 2005 anyone could have scored the goals he has he is just lucky Disagree. You need to see the goals again. One against Blackpool was good. Against Sheffield Wed (i think) he brought it down in his chest, ran to the side and whacked it into the top corner. His goal against Watford wasnt easy. At least he can score. Elvis and Hume have only got 1.
Chrysalis Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 end of day we should have as sub, if you get to 80mins against burnley and havent scored how can it make it worse to give someone new a go?
Ric Flair Posted 25 October 2005 Posted 25 October 2005 He's just scored for Rushden It was an absolute ripper aswell, volley
BenFilbert Posted 25 October 2005 Posted 25 October 2005 He should stay were he is. Keep playing well and keep scoring will make him a much better player for next season.
bald reynard Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 I've seen O'Grady play for the Diamonds - he plays for them on the left (midfield/attacking), not as a central striker - we've got loads of left sided attacking players (Hamill, Smith, Wilcox - even Hume and Hammond have played there) - we don't need him back in that position !

I don't rate Hammond of Hume as a strikers to be honest. Hammond is better suited as a winger and Hume a syet to impress me at all. He didn't exactly have a great goal scoring record for Tranmere now did he. Further to your question though, yes we should bring O'Grady back.
